Temple of Moradin
The Temple of Moradin is located belowground, about a quarter mile further underground down a wide passageway from the Grand Cavern. The passage terminates in a large vestibule facing a set of enormous stone double doors called the Soulforger Gate, which are studded with gold and carved with runes. Beyond the doors is the temple: a huge cavern with vaulted ceilings, huge stalactite pillars, and scenes from dwarven legends carved on every centimeter of wall space. Descending ranks of benches are cut into the living stone floor in a series of concentric circles; a large dais in the center is used by clerics of Moradin to preach during services. Services consist of hours of chanting, while a huge furnace on the far wall across from the double doors is stoked. The ring of hammers on steel punctuates the chants. Although most residents of the Enclave have never seen an orc, they and their god Gruumsh are commonly vilified during services.
The Soulforger Gate is usually ajar. It is only closed on festival days; it is reopened with great ceremony to allow the faithful inside for services. It is strictly forbidden to exit through the Soulforger Gate for any reason; there are many smaller doors around the perimeter of the temple that serve as exits. Clerical quarters are small rooms, also distributed around the perimeter of the temple.
The furnace in the temple is a working furnace, used to forge all manner of useful things (particularly larger items) at times when services are not in session. Ceremonial objects are sometimes forged during the services themselves.
