Principalities

Principalities work directly under the gods and handle more granular aspects of the god’s portfolio. For example, Morrighan The God of Life/Death would have Principalities that oversee birth, rebirth, the counting of souls, or even undeath. Silvanus The God of Nature would have Principalities that handle forests, deserts, birds, or hunters. The Dyad the dual aspect God/s of luck and fate might have principalities to cover things like thieves, gambling, destiny, curses etc.

Principalities are more numerous than the actual Gods and people usually do not pray to them directly, but they act as aspects of the gods themselves, and essentially are a carved-out portion of the god’s power that handles one task or abstract concept that falls within the god's divine portfolio. They are essentially a purpose-built avatar. If a person needs to interact with a god directly, they would most likely be actually interacting with a Principality assigned to address that specific issue or need.
