Muragoth, the Demigod of Battle

Muragoth is an unusual demigod in that he resembles a trait found to some degree in two different gods.   Malavach is the god of carnage, bloodshed, slaughter, and all manner of the horrors that can be brought by war. Torach is the god of retribution, and fighting for what one believes to be a "just cause"   Muragoth, the Demigod of Battle, is the representation of the glory of battle itself. Mindless slaughter does not interest him, but neither does fighting for a noble cause. Rather, Muragoth seems to be the spirit of battle itself, the adrenaline of combat, the beauty of skilled combatants taking up arms against each other. Malavach craves slaughter, and grants his boon to the side that is likely to utterly crush an opposing army. Torach often supports the underdogs in a conflict if he deems them to be fighting for a worthy cause. Muragoth seeks the middle, wanting to see evenly matched armies or foes clash against each other.    He does not wish to see an army crush their opponent, nor does he particularly want to see a vastly outnumbered or out-maneuvered army succeed. Muragoth presides over battlefields where either side might claim victory, and it is believed he grants his favor to the side that fights with the most vigor, the most skill, and the most brilliance. He is the patron of expert warriors, of veteran soldiers, and of those who seek glory, all of which crave worthy opponents to match them in battle.   It is for this reason Muragoth appears differently to those who see him. Orcs see him as an Orc, Dwarves see him as a Dwarf, and so on. It is said that when a side is granted the favor of Muragoth, he takes physical form and joins the battle himself, and in doing so will either overtly or subtly lead a force to their eventual victory. As such, many warriors request Muragoth's blessing before a battle where victory is not assured, praying over their weapons or steeds or strategies in the hope that he will side with them rather than the enemy. To obtain Muragoth's blessing is potent indeed, and it is said that a weapon blessed by him will never break, armor will never tarnish, steeds will never tire, and strategies will never fail.
