Windtouched

"Amazing! This town has the best views I've seen all week!"
Occasionally, a descendant of the genies of the Plane of Air achieves a lasting lineage upon The Eye. In other cases, a sailor or nomad blessed by The Traveler may find their firstborn holding some traits of the element. Regardless of their origins, however, Windtouched are unlikely to remain in their place of origin for long. The desire to move and travel consumes them, as well as a burning curiosity about the world.   Sometimes called 'Stormkin' or 'Crossers', Windtouched take various forms, though all of them make their elemental nature obvious. Some are thin and frail to the point where they can be mistaken for Elves; some have vibrant white hair that flows in the wind even with none present, while others have short but spiky hair that seems to twitch like lightning. Some notice them simply because they constantly seem to be moving, and even when keeping a walking pace they tend to overtake others on the streets (some more rudely than others). While many find their seemingly impatient and carefree behaviors annoying, they take solace in the fact that they rarely have to tolerate them for long.

Racial Modifiers

  • Characteristics: Windtouched gain a +1 to AGI and PER, but suffer a -1 to CON. They are quick, agile, and observant, but relatively slight and frail.
  • Inhuman Speed: Windtouched gain an additional +1 to their Movement Value and can achieve Inhuman movement values without further supernatural ability.
  • Featherweight: Windtouched are relatively light, or at least give the impression of such in the way they move, even if it is to their detriment. They gain a +40 to Acrobatics, Climb, and Jump, but suffer a -2 to any characteristic check against a Take Down or Impact.
  • Traveler's Grace: When moving at full speed, Windtouched sometimes show even greater acrobatic abilities. By spending a point of Fatigue, the character may move without weight, able to run up walls, on water, or other similar feats. (The bonus granted by Weight Elimination to Acrobatics and Jump stacks with Featherweight.) If the Windtouched character possesses Weight Elimination, they may maintain it by spending a Ki Point only once every five rounds. Finally, they halve the maintenance cost of any magical ability that grants them flight or this form of movement, such as Free Motion.
  • Songs of the Wind: Windtouched tend to be particularly musically-inclined and perceptive listeners. They can develop their Music ability for 1 DP per point, and gain a +20 to Notice and Search checks that exclusively involve hearing.
  • Imbalance towards Air: Windtouched that learn elemental abilities are obligated to focus in those related to Air or Electricity first. In other words, their first Path of Magic or Elemental Compatibility must be Air, and their first Psychic Discipline must be Electromagnetism or Teleportation. However, they gain an additional +10 MA or +20 Potential when casting from this path or using this discipline, respectively, and any attacks based on their element gain +10 Base Damage.
  • Dependency on Air: The flow of wind helps to sustain the Windtouched, and when in enclosed areas with no natural airflow, they suffer a -10 All Action Penalty and a -2 to their Regeneration (to a minimum of 0). When completely deprived of air, Windtouched suffocate significantly faster, making a Constitution check every 5 Combat Turns (or every 15 minutes, if they possess Use of Necessary Energy).
