Sumurset Isles
"Though we may pine for Old Ehlnofey, the golden warmth of the Divines will always dry our tears in the sun-kissed land of Summerset." —Our Blessed Isles: A Guide
Dearest Reader, at last we come to the edges of my knowledge, vast though it may be. Despite my best efforts, little public information exists on The Sumurset Isles, apart from hearsay and fairytales.
There are three principal islands that make up the Sumurset Isles:
- Sumurset - by far the largest, including the capital of Alinor.
- Auridon - the smaller of the two main islands, the port of Firsthold may be found here.
- Artaeum - the isle of the Psjics.
For as long as recorded history can recount, the High Elves, the Altmer, have barred outsiders from traversing the length and breadth of their homeland. But 400 years ago, Tiber Septim, having subjugated the rest of Tamriel - turned his eyes towards the Aldmeri Dominion and brought the High Elves to a humiliating defeat. Indeed it is said that their capital, the Sacred City of Alinor, capitulated merely and hour after it was first beseiged by the Septim. But Tiber was merciful, and the elven insitutions of old have been permitted to remain - under the watchful eye of newly constructed legion forts and naval bases.
The forced opening of Firsthold to foreign traders was another consequence of integration - but even still, non-Altmer are relegated to the Foreign Quarter unless on strict Imperial business. Only the Legion, the Navy, and Imperial Delegates or chartered representatives are permitted to travel freely through the isles.
The Isles sit south-west of mainland Tamriel a narrow channel known as the Blue Divide dividing them from the Rain Forests and wild Jungles of Valenwood.
