Lesser Bretonny

Lesser Bretony is the westernmost tip of the great Bretonny peninsula that juts out from High Rock into the Eltheric Ocean, it forms part of the the north coast of the Iliac Bay. The land here from Tulune in the West to Daggerfall and north to the highlands consists of the breadbasket for much of the major urban centres of the Illiac Bay. The land of rolling hills is a patchwork quilt of near total farm-land and field, all basking under warm mediterranean sun and salty sea air. Rock-walls line the perimeter of each small patch of land, demarcating one family’s row of crops from another, criss-crossing angrily and haphazardly with more care for the natural curve and bend of the landscape than for aesthetics. The walls are functional rather than pretty, no mortar between the rough flat stone, instead being touched up with each spring’s fresh crop off rocks each ploughing season. Hedgerows serve the same purpose elsewhere, often running along or right on top of the walls where the two coincide, other times serving as a boundary in and of themselves.

The landscape is elevated above the shore by tall, white, chalky cliffs that drop occasionally down to the water, where ports rise up in their place. It is dense with humanity, every acre home to plots of grain and fruit and vegetable for miles, broken only by villages, ruins, and small copses. Grains like Wheat, Barley, Rye, Oats, and Maize, fruits like Tomatoes and Grapes, and vegetables like Beets, Carrots, and Cabbage are grown in abundance, much of it feeding the metropolis of Daggerfall itself and the rest sold for profit across the bay and abroad. It is pleasant, fertile, and peaceful under the Empire and the Miracle of Peace. It is home to the metropolis of Daggerfall, as well as a number of smaller ports like Tulune, and a myriad number of villages and farmsteads tending to the land. Despite being a small portion of the province, a large number of Bretons abroad come from here one way or another, between Daggerfall’s sprawl and the peasantry required to feed it.

As heavily developed as it is, the fey are nearly absent there, and covens of witches are far and few between.

All of Lesser Bretonny is under the sovereignty of Greater Daggerfall (aka. Kingdom of the Illiac; Kingdom of the Bay).

Politically, all of the Barony of Lune is found in Lesser Bretonny, as well as the bulk of the Kingdom of Daggerfall.
