Wildcard Demons
The following is a list of all known wildcard demons
- Shaiyath: The Shaiyath are a race of demons whose bodies are able to become incorporeal, and indeed are incorporeal for most of their life excluding birth and a short time before death. Acquiring and utilizing a Shaiyath is extremely difficult because two Shaiyaths can only breed when both are on their deathbed, although this pairing usually produces multiple new Shaiyath. This also made it impossible to gene-edit them after the first iteration was produced without bioengineering the race again and therefore Shaiyath are often possessed of varying abilities (though all are Shaiyath). The Shaiyath are best known for their functioning as an unstoppable assassin, but only during in darkness. This is because their form is broken by light, and so exposing a Shaiyath to more than moderate light will immediately destroy it. The Shaiyath are known to resemble ghosts, and it can be difficult to detect the difference between them and ghosts without known the signs. These are their visible organs (which most ghosts don't have) and their cold aura of evil, which again most ghosts don't have. The final sign is that the Shaiyath, though humanoid, are really not related to any of the races of the eighth realm, and typically have the wrong number of finger, toes, or even limbs. Their ghostly hair is also often visibly off.
- Wicklend: The Wicklend are a race of demons most notable for their horrible formation which involves the sacrifice of a mortal child and the tying of its soul to a bioengineered husk. The child's soul is subjected to spiritual, physical, and mental torment to drive it insane and mold it to the wishes of its devil overlord. Wicklends may also be enhanced by the melding of multiple souls into one, with these Wicklend being known as Clusters. The more souls in a cluster, the more unstable and violent the Wicklend becomes, with its hive mind drawing it in multiple directions. Clusters tend to be more stable when using the souls of children of the same ethnic and racial background, so often a whole village is taken to create one. The main weakness of the Wicklend is that they are biologically unable to kill children, as this is a side effect of the magic and bioengineering used to create them. Instead, the Wicklend will often defend this child, even against their devil lord. This makes them unreliable servants for use in the mortal plane, but quite effective against other demons.
- Der-Alon: The Der-Alon are a race of demons which broke free from the devils many years ago. In appearance they are quite similar to the Balor, though without their wings, and with much larger racks of horns which resemble antlers. Once a demon group like any other, the Der-Alon were primarily used as berserkers due to their wild, bloodthirsty nature- similar to the modern Ghora or Oni. However, their interest in blood was raised to be more than their loyalty to their demonic masterminds, and this led to the Der-Alon escaping from the devils' control, and killing their overlords in several bloody incidents. Although the Der-Alon were terminated just like any other demon group that disobeys their devilish overlords, enough of the Der-Alon were able to escape to form a loose civilization outside the control of the devils. Despite many efforts by devils to hunt down and destroy the Der-Alon, they have perservered, continuing to survive. Most of their population now resides in the Salazuiri sector of the Shadow Dimension, although there are scattered remnants that may be found across this region. Typically, the devils leave them alone, as any conflict with the Der-Alon ends in extreme violence and the loss of resources, thus weakening the devil and leaving them open to attacks from rivals, but occasionally forays will be made by several devils working together. The Der-Alon have a burning hatred for devils due to the various purges devils have subjected them to over the years, and will occasionally align with mortals in order to fight against devil influence. Due to their escape from the devil gene-editing system and the influence of magical radiation, the Der-Alon have become somewhat more developmentally normal, and can range from a category 1 to category 4 threat depending on the Der-Alon. The Der-Alon suffer from blood rages, and their inherant abilities include rapid healing and strength from drinking or bathing in blood as well as an aura which sapps the strength of weaker beings, making them dangerous foes who are biologically enouraged to kill rather than treat or parley.
