The Watchers
The Watcher's Creed - "We are the lenses that give focus to the worthy, We are the light that blinds the impure
We are the ones that foresee the gods’ return, We are the ones who seek retribution on the blasphemers, We are the Watchmen of Yyradayn."
The Watchmen of Yyradayn are a radical religious/political group based in the southern end of the continent. They orginated sometime shortly after the Great Calamity as a tribe that mainly delt in goods and the gathering/distribution of information. Later in the year 800 S.C, the group became radicalized in the worrship of Kunin and Typhal and began to spread his teachings, occationally by force. These teachings called for the veneration of Kunin and Typhal, as in the past the people of Yyradayn had begun to stray away from their light and that is what caused the Great Calamity. They also called for the punishment of heretics and would often be arrested or killed when members of the order would start a commotion that cause wide spread chaos in the town or village they were preaching in. They made their home in the ruins of a great temple known as "The Grand Temple of the One" and began its reconstruction. Eventually they became more orginized and created the three groups within the orginizationand; The Regulars, Scholars, and Protectors. During this time they also established the Council of Eyes, which consist of four members; the Eye of the Common, who oversees the regulars, the Eye of the Sword, who oversees the Elites, the Eye of Knowledge, who oversees the scholars/mages, and then the Eye of Enlightenment, also known as the Seeker, who acts as the leader of both the order and the council, determining what direction the order will ultimately take during his or her time. After some time had passed they established themselves as an influentional power in the region, sending aid to nearby villages and inviting wondering tribes to settle near the temple. From all outward apperinces the Watchmen of Yyradayn seemed to be a religious group focused on helping those in need and spreading the word of their god. But in reality they were the ones causing many of the problems and came in to help afterwards as to gain the people's trust. For the next 500 years they focused on expanding their influnce even reaching non-Dark Elf nations, as they are one of the only known religious organizations on Yyradayn to accept those that are not Dark Elves, that being said they do still preach the supremacy of the Dark Elves. They had established hospitals, temples, trade routes and businesses, and took land undder their derect control. Throughout the years they that made themselves essential to how society ran in the south, some climbing the social and politcal latter to the highest parts of the soceity becoming key figures within their communities. But the organization had also established themselves in society's dark underbelly, creating and distributing narcartics, trading in weapons and information, commited banditry and assassinations. They did this so that they may take control of how the people ran their day to day lives as they knew they couldn't eradic heresy without delving into heresy itself and of course to take power, often times blatantly making power grabs in the regions they had control over. Often times when they saw someone or even entire villages as a problem, they would get rid of them whether that be through underhanded tatics such as assassination or the ruining of a person's reputaion or the whole disapearence of a village. In recent years they have been less concerned with hiding their ulterior motives since most of the dark elf nations have almost completely become dependent on the group's knowledge and guidence.
