Magniferium

Magniferium is completely resistant to magic. A wizard inside a cell with enough Magniferium cannot conjure so much as a spark, and Magniferium is often used to protect forts from enemy nations that have a high abundance of mages. Magniferium is inversely proportional to how much (natural) magic is present in each region.
