High Jarl Øldar, the Fierce

Adopted into a royal family of Centaurs for political standing, Øldar was constantly trying to prove himself to be equals to his Centaur brethren. There was never a time where he wasn’t neglected or harassed by his three centaur brothers. In turn Øldar felt the need to prove himself. He joined the military at the age of 14 and quickly excelled through the ranks. He was a natural leader on the battlefield and led successful charges by the age of 21 years old. His success on the battlefield gained an excess of land for the Khanate of Clesentia. At the age of 25 he was an elite strategist and would even advise his adopted father, Khan Braehyst of Clesentia . Despite his outstanding achievements, his Centaur brothers still felt he was not equal. They were ultimately jealous of Øldar’s achievements, though that is something they could never admit. They continued to treat him as lesser and insignificant. Øldar felt this as the final straw and challenged his brothers to a 3v1 duel, to which they happily agreed. The following day Øldar and his brothers entered the arena, met with a large crowd eager to witness a bout of who would come out triumphant, and who would face humiliation. The bout commenced, and the three centaurs quickly surrounded Øldar, they did not intend to have a clean fight. Nearly beaten by his cheating brothers, Øldar became enraged, and caught a second wind. He began to push back his cheating brothers, starting by snapping his eldest brother's leg. Upon seeing the successful strike, the other two brothers felt a sense of fear, fear of being beaten by a lowly human. They became unsteady with their attacks, actually fearful of their human brother. Øldar swiftly disabled the last two centaur brothers. Having them all defeated, he berated them, demanding they beg for mercy and admit that they are lesser than a human. Fearing for their lives, they submit. Regardless, Øldar then slaughtered them, earning him the title “Øldar the Red”. The audience was horrified. They didn’t think that they would see the deaths of the heirs to the centaur throne. They fled the arena in horror. The king of the centaur kingdom, having lost his three heirs, swiftly made his way down to the stage and berated Øldar, he was full of grief, not only from losing his sons, but also his best tactician. Øldar could no longer live in the kingdom. He stated that Øldar was to be branded and exiled.

When it came time for the branding, Øldar ripped the brand from his fathers hands and branded himself whilst looking directly into his adopted fathers eyes, to signify that this act was not full of shame, but of pride. He owned this mark with pride and would later use it as the insignia of his kingdom. Øldar left the kingdom within the week, along with a large party of followers, who saw him as their savior from the arrogant centaurs, and as a god amongst men. He took this party to what is now known as Frostreach, and began to build an empire
