Followers of the Four

The Followers of the Four, or just the followers, is the main religion followed by the Aimaur. The followers call themselves the Moansa Badek Cherensarei and believe that their people were saved from the apocalypse by the Four. In follower mythology, the Four were great men and women who took charge of the people after the collapse of their civilization and the abandonment of the people by the gods. This left the four to guide civilization back to life, a task which the followers believe they performed admirably. For this, they deserve veneration by the people who they saved. Followers believe they are the chosen people who were personally guided by the four, but over time a few differences have sprung up in the worship of the Four. A number of worshippers focus on one of the four, neglecting the others in favor of them, and militaristic groups have sprung up, seeking to assert the dominance of one of the four via might. The conflict between the militaristic orders has defined struggles within both the tribes which make up the followers and the followers as a whole.
The Four were all great warriors and mages in their own right but each of them specialized in different methods of fighting and later in leading the people to safety. This has led them to end up embodying different traditions based on their mythical exploits.
  1. Caryn: sword user, trailblazer and jungle tamer
  2. Sadiya: magic user, diplomacy and reconciliation
  3. Iskal: defender/spear and shield, protection and settlement
  4. Zanya: blowgun user, medicine and hunting
The Four were intimately involved alongside fighting together. Caryn and Iskal were adopted brothers who had fought in many battles together. Before the apocalypse, the two had a falling out as they were both in love with Zanya, who ultimately chose Caryn over Iskal. However, they reconciled before the battles and after fighting alongside Saidya for years Iskal ended up falling for her instead. Many great chieftains of the Touchaol claim descendance from the children of these two pairings, and it is believed that the blood of their lineages leads to better warriors.
The tribes of the Touchaol overlap with the four orders, and many tribes are loosely aligned with one order or another. In the past, the tribes were more unified but as they have fallen into disunity the orders have gained more and more power, to the point where many believe that the only way the Touchaol could ever unify is if one of the orders assumes dominance over the others. It is believed that this could upset the balance between the Four by the actual priests, but these priests have largely fallen out of favor for the orders. The four orders stand as follows:
  1. Cseag Kean (Trailblazers)
  2. Anakar Dhivil (Defenders of Life)
  3. Khedal Soalahtra (Faithful Shield)
  4. Davanak Phealu (Divine Hunters)
Of the 12 main tribes of the Touchaol, the Cseag Kean and Davanak Phealu have the support of 3, while the Khedal Soalahtra counts 2 in their allies. The Anakar Dhivil only holds one tribe as firm allies at the moment. However allegiances are rarely set in stone and often shift over time, especially with 3 tribes currently unaligned.
