Feykin

Old Lore(Legends) - Feykin are an anomaly among the races of the world, as they are one of the few races to be created by another with no influence of the gods. During the Divine War, Dryads and Devils fought a proxy conflict which mirrored that in the sky. While the devils were generally losing, paralleling that in the heavens once more, they remained adept at magic and plotted to erase the dryads. After years of experimenting, the Devils finally had their magnum opus. They were able to use dark magic to implant limited intelligence in myceliumized dead dryads, creating the first feykin. Their intent was for the feykin to inflect dryads and multiply, and so the feykin began to spread. However, before the project really picked up steam, Kyvos was defeated and the devils were scattered. At this point, the feykin became their own thing; a slowly spreading disease which over the years have come to control much of the magical forests on Cet'aenn and northern Ærellion.
Fekyin spread by infecting living beings, and seem to be unable to replicate their origin of infecting the dead. Their diseased spread appears to be most effective on dryads, as this was their original intent, but over the years mutations have allowed them to infect other races as well, seeming to have the most effect on those strong in magic. As beings of limited intelligence and strategy, the Feykin behave, for the most part, as a myceloid zombie apocolypse, but an extremely ineffective one. Should the races of the eighth relam work together, there is no doubt that the Feykin could be wholly eradicated, but knowledge of this issue does not have widespread reach, dryads are considered untrustworthy, and there is not a real push to take it seriously in non-neighboring nations. - This will all be reworked!!! by me, he who is him   New Lore(Cannon) - The Feykin came into this world due a curse that was laid upon the anceint Dryads during the waning days of the Divine War. This curse was a curse of hatred and vengence that was created by the Devils, who experimented on the corpses of dead dryads. They found that once the corpses myceliumized and the curse was applied, it would cause the corpse to come to life and steal the life force of any living entity nearby and transfer the curse to them making them a new feykin.
