Crescent Moons
They are the information gatherers, assassins, and protectors of both the Empire and Cult. The Crescent Moons are split between three different divisions: Blood Crescents, Eclipse Crescents, and Whispering Crescents
Blood Crescents: They are the ones that serve as the personal bodyguards to the ruler of the Empire and are extremely skilled in swordsmanship, elemental magic, black magic, as well as teleportation magic. Each one of the Blood Crescents is carefully chosen from the ranks of the Red legion and are put through intense training which typically leads to about 3/4 of them dying. The remaining 1/4 are then taken to a ritual chamber where priests carve Elven Runes into their flesh enhancing their abilities but in doing so taking away the chance for a long life, for those that under take the ritual will die at half their expected lifespan.
Eclipse Crescents: They are the secret arm of the cult/government, they kill any who may pose a threat to the Empire or it's leader. They are also tasked with disposing of any blasphemers that speak out against the word of the cult or it's leader. To become an Eclipse you must go through the same trials undertaken by the Blood Crescents but once the trial is over those that are chosen to become an Eclipse are force to sit and meditate in the dark for 20 days only being able to eat and drink a magical paste like suspense made from the sap of the Fire-Flower Trees and the blood of a Succubus and a Shadow Demon allowing the new Eclipse to become the masters of persuasion and striking from the shadows
Whispering Crescents: Unlike the other two divisions of the Crescent moons, the Whisperings Crescents focus mainly on information gathering and counter-intelligence. They may not have to go through such grueling trials like the Eclipse and Blood Crescents, but their trials are still not easy. They must go through a dangerous cave or cavern, chosen by who ever is running the trial, blindfolded and must rely on their other senses to make it through. They go through other trials that test their sensory abilities and information gathering skill most either fail due to inadequacy, failure to reach the end before time ran out, or death. Those that do make it, which is about 1/3, then have to drink an alchemical mixture that contains blood from a Nightmare or essence from a Hym, after drinking some end up dying due their body not being able handle demon blood and tries to expel it which ends up causing the heart and internal organs to explode. For those that do survive, they will have heightened perception, their sense will be intensified ten fold, in some cases the ability to read someone's thoughts and be see through memories.
