Category 4 Demons

The following contains all category 4 demons:
  • Akuma: This type of demon has the body of a humanoid but with a living flame for its head. Akumas have a sword embedded in their arm which cuts their arm in half vertically, splitting their hand. Akuma are not entirely present in the plane of most creatures, and it is quite hard to harm them as they appear to bend around most weapons to the naked eye. Only by using magical means or by damaging their flame head can they be killed, and this flame is far more resistant than lower category demons. However, one sure method is the use of holy water; in enough quanities it will instantly kill the Akuma. The Akuma also has a corrosive aura that slowly saps a victim the longer the Akuma focuses on it, provided that the victim is within a 50 foot radius. Being assaulted by many at once makes it hard for the Akuma to focus itself, but it will still affect all those who attack it, albiet slower. A single second of contact with this aura provokes hallucenations and other mentally damaging effects in the victim, which increase in severity the longer a victim is targeted. Long-term contact will result in mental and even physical illness if the period is extreme. Only the most powerful of the Akuma's foes can hope to reach this physical torment phase, for weaker ones will assuredly see their minds shatter under the assault long before they feel real pain (though hallucenogenic pain is common and severe). Most commonly, an Akuma's foes will collapse into gibbering messes after mere moments in combat, with the Akuma pausing for just a second to slaughter them with its sword (or leaving that task to its underlings if they are not otherwise engaged).
  • Halar: The Halar are one of the most powerful shapeshifting demons, capable of assuming four distinct forms; raven, snake, humanoid, and draconic. Though their range is small, each of their forms plays a key role. Their draconic form is not as strong as a true dragon, but it is much more powerful than most can combat, and its large size makes it ideal for open battle. The human form can be used to gather intel or to fight in close quarters where the draconic form cannot fit. Its snake and raven forms are used to spy and sneak around, fitting through smaller areas and avoiding notice. In each of these forms, the Halar is just as hard to damage as in its draconic form, which most consider the species' true form. Halar also have several other tricks, most notable the ability to possess and overwrite a victim. They then set their human form to a carbon copy of the victim and destroy their consciousness in an irrevocable process. This form becomes their defeault and they can freely shapeshift from it. They also keep all of the victim's memories, so they don't even need to worry about guessing at the victim's mannerisms. Halar prefer to travel by riding thunderstorms, which they can control. For this reason they are a great foe of Lighting Dragons. It is every Halar's wish to overtake a lightning dragon's mind and make it into their default form, but this process has never succeeded (and indeed, cannot. The Halar don't know this, however). Halar are also irredeemably evil, and love consuming children as a delicacy. This has the effect of increasing their power when consumed in a specific way, though they still eat them even when this isn't necessary, as they crave the taste.
  • Dev: Dev are gigantic demons which have the head of a boar. Closely resembling an outland giant in terms of their physique, they are nonetheless much more powerful as they possess magical abilities which enhances their strength. They are adept spellcasters, though not the strongest of demons. Dev are community-building demons which organize themselves into autonomous communities under category five's Sepid. They view themselves as the rightful inheritors of the world and have their own culture and customs which are completely distinct from other demons. In fact, they consider themselves temporarily under the domain of devils, and fully plan to turn on them once the other races are extinguished from the earth. However, for now they consent to work under devils as they particularly enjoy killing and eating the other races of the world, with humans being their preferred snack. Dev are generally left autonomous because the devils know that their own self-interest keeps them in line more than harsh treatment, especially since the devils don't wish to anger the Sepid leadership of the Dev. However, this agreement is more closely defined than the Dev are aware of.
  • Abysswyrn: The abysswyrn are large centipede-like creatures with bodies that exude extremely hot temperatures. Abysswyrn have countless legs and very hard outer carapace which makes for excellent armor if they abysswyrn is slain (being especially resistant to fire). Abysswyrm are capable of breathing fire, which makes them effective from a distance as well as in close range, where they crush their targets in their long bodies or simply trample them. Abysswyrms are covered with mouths, each of which is connected to their digestive system and all of which can eat a man in one bite. Each mouth has a long, tentacle-like tounge, which can be used to ensnare enemies and bring them to their mouths to eat. Abysswyrms are effective tunnelers, and have often been used by devils in the case of long sieges. They must be careful with abysswyms, however, since the creature is not the most intelligent and they are very rare. Abysswyrms have the strength, power, and toughness of a category five demons, but due to their limited intelligence and lack of magical or aural powers are considered category four. However, in situations where mages are lacking, abysswyrms can be considered category five as they are almost invulnerable to physical harm. Even when they take serious damage in one part of their body they can continue fighting with the rest.
  • Skaraspine: Similar to the abysswyrm, the skaraspine resembles a giant spider as opposed to a centipede. They have many of the same weaknesses as an abysswyrm, which leaves them in category four, but their use is very different from Abysswyrm. Skarapsine have razor sharp and unnaturally strong front claws which are able to function as scissors when paired together, allowing the skaraspine to slice through almost any material and breach any nonmagical barrier, not matter its strength. Skaraspine are often dispatched in teams to take down some of the most poweful opponents devils will face, such as dragons or ents, and are never used against smaller creatures. Though one Skaraspine cannot hope to match a creature as powerful as a dragon, in groups they can slice the wings and then take turns cutting into the dragon's body until it dies. Skaraspine, unlike spiders, do not have web-spinning abilities and consume their prey alive, if possible. They do have venom, but it is essentially useless; against a powerful opponent it is ineffective, and against a weaker one it is unnecessary. This venom is a powerful magical component, however.
  • Fironix*: Fironix are one of the most bizarre demons. They appear similar to a rusted sculpture of a woman, accurate in all ways save one. Instead of their regular arms, they have multiple arms coming out of the wrong places, whose varies based on the Fironix. The Fironix are very clearly "wrong" from a humanoid perspective; even if they can disguise themselves as statues they exude evil energy which causes most races to avoid them, thus rendering hiding worthless. This aura of uneasyness can, however, mess with mortal insticts and hide other presences, concealing the exact nature of the forces working with the Fironix. The Fironix are adept spellcasters, physically resistant, and powerful melee fighters with no direct weakness. Even being slammed with extreme heat does not harm their unique form. Though Fironix shouldn't be able to stand or swim, they make do by using magic to sustain themselves. This does mean that when they are to weak to cast a spell they effectively become useless, so their effectiveness in limited especially in low magic zones or in areas where magic fields can fluctuate wildly.
  • Skorpire: The Skorpire are tattered-looking wolf-like demons whose emacate appearance and deadly toxins can subdue powerful foes. Skorpire are about the size of a horse, which makes them far larger than any real wolf. Their skin and fur barely covers their body and their bones are clearly visible through their skin. Their innards pulse with demonic energy which causes an unwholesome and gruesome appearance, which is matched by the spines piercing through their own skin. These spines are the only thing holding their skin on their body, and you really do not want to see them without it. They also have a long tail which ends in three wicked spikes, its main weapon. These spikes are toxic and provoke various effects depending on the host and the Skorpire's mood. Skorpire, like many demons, are in constant pain, which encourages violence and hate. However, they are highly capable of working in packs, each carefully curating their emotions to slice their foes into a toxic soup of disease, capable of bringing even the most powerful entities down. Because of their lightweight bodies, they are capable of mighty leaps and other impossible feats, yet despite this they are hard to kill. With all important organs protected by their tough inner membrane, they may lose half their body yet they keep fighting.
  • Anotaurus: The demonic answer to centaurians, Anotauri, while similar in concept, do not actually share any comon ancestors. Instead of a humanoid, their upper body is a strange horned beast which closely resembles are Balor without its fire (though of course far smaller). Similarly, their lower body does not match any known animal. Though four-legged and furred, its proportions are unnatural, its legs bend backwards, and it lacks any reproductive organs. The Anotauri also possess a third arm instead of a tail; this arm is covered in spines and ends in horribly sharp claws. Anotauri must be wary of their own back hand, which can and has damaged or killed them in the past, but this hand is extremely effective at killing while their back is turned. Anotaurus are the heavy cavalry of the devils, used in the most ciritcal situations and often for high ranking devils to ride. They have little in the way of intelligence, but are able to understand and enact their rider's plans effectively.
  • Saturyn: Saturyn are the most notorious and horribly demons of category four, their history steeped in bloody, murder, and violence in general. In appearance an emaciated and disgusting smelling goat-headed demon which stands 9 feet tall, Saturyn probably have the most effective aura of any demon. Though physically weak compared to other category four demons, Saturyn are deceptive, and horribly dangerous to engage, capable fo driving those around it to madness before they even reach it. However, unlike the madness invoked by an Akuma, victims affected by Saturyn are permanently driven to a euphoric state where they are highly vulnerable to control. The Stauryn seems to establish weak mental links with their victims which make them act according to the Saturyn's mood. And Saturyn only have two moods. Victims will either rush into a murderous and violent rage, killing as many as possible, including themsleves, or enage in an orgy of sex. When many people are entrapped by a Saturyn at once these can cause entrie towns to collapse into murder and sex for a few days before everyone is killed or ends their own life. In fact, this is how Saturyn often reproduce, as they incite entire towns to orgies where they murder and rape as they please before selecting the last woman and impregnating her with their child. If the last survivor is a man, well, I'd prefer not discuss that. Either way, this action does NOT create a new Satyurn, but a Cambion. The final notable fact about Saturyn is that they have a long tail which whips around when excited. The more murder and sex, the more their tail whips. It's no wonder that Saturyn have long been one of the most imfamous of demons.
  • Immoldron: Immoldron have the power to project fire with their speech, which makes them one of the mot deadly demons from a distance. Any and all in hearing range the Immoldron targets will hear their words and be burned. Immoldron can change the exact nature of the damage based on different phrases, and they are often Polyglots as they seek new ways of speaking death. Though short, Immoldron are stout, but otherwise resemble a Balor, possessing the quintessential horned head and dead eyes to match. Immoldron are often in use as envoys because of their knack for language alongside their sturdiness and difficulty to kill, but it doesn't hurt to literally deafen an opposing ruler with fire when he won't agree to cede all his land and die because you asked either.
