Category 3 Demons

The following contains all know Category 3 Demons:
  • Hyprus: A type of mind demon, Hypri feed on fear, regret, a sense of guilt - in a word, on negative emotions, and since they are eternally hungry, they provoke these emotions in the humans they torment; these people tend to be ones with an immense amount of negative emotions. Hypri also do not like the light so they will have their victims be in dark areas when possible and if the victim with a powerful enough affliction is in light, their shadow takes the form of the Hyprus. A Hyprus, to all but their victim, remain completely invisible, though when they do show themselves they appear as a tall, shadow-clad, humanoid silhouette with long, sharp claws. Yet hyprus do not sink these claws into their victims, instead, sapping strength through inflicting suffering. Speaking in a voice only the victim hears, they drive them to commit acts of violence, aggression and self-harm. A hyprus will seize on a guilty person's worst fears and weave out of them hideous visions, slowing driving the poor soul into madness. Those tormented by a hyprus are incapable of restful sleep, for they are tormented by ever-more-frequent, incredibly-realistic nightmares. At times the victim will become extremely on edge, yelling pleas or threats at invisible phantoms or confessing his or her guilt out loud in the hope this will end their torment. This act does not, however, bring any relief, for the hym will not leave until it has addled its victim's wits completely or driven them to suicide. These creatures cannot be exorcised like normal demons, which is primarily what has kept them in category 3, but there are two known ways to exorcise this demon. One is to trick the hym into changing targets onto someone else who thought they have done a terrible act but in reality has not, though hyprus are incredibly perceptive so if one is to trick a hyprus the person who is to become its new host must truly believe they had done wrong. The second way is equally dangerous to the last if not more so, you must take the victim to the hyprus’s lair, which is typically in a place of some import to its victim, and draw it out by placing torches in a circle around the victim or by blasting them with light magic, which will summon the hym out of hiding as it does not like the light. Either way, the hyprus will attack its aggressor gaining strength from its host, which will likely weaken the victim usually causing them to expire. The second method should not be used by anyone who is not a combat exorcist that is of rank B and higher or an experencted monster hunter that specializes in hunting demons. In this way, Hypri have almost unmatches ability to esnure the deaths of their victims, even when discovered.
  • Rokurokubi: Rokurokubi can appear identical to humanoid races when they please, but the reality is not so simple. Their head and body do not need to be connected and in fact the head has its own tail which ports into the neck, connecting the demon. The head has the ability to detach from the body, fly and cast terrible spells from afar while the body performs mundane tasks. Rokurokubi appear to be able to sense and see completely fine from their bodies and heads at the same time over long distances, despite the lack of eyes on the body. Additionally, the Rokurokubi can access dreams and speak telepathically inside of them. They often infiltrate courts and weave webs of deciet around the entire populace, though these nets are nowhere near as individually damaging as a hyprus, or even a Nightmare. Rokurokubi are one of the female demons, and much like the others have skill with magic above most other demons. However, they have one specific weakness the other female demons do not have- Rokurokubi can be "tamed" by a man or woman of sufficient presense and authority (depending on the Rokurokubi's preference). This can only be done if the Rokurokubi falls for this person, and they return the affection, as otherwise they will grow spiteful and more evil than ever. However, they must be kept on a tight leash as they will fall back into their old ways if given the opportunity. At best, this is a temporary solution, for when their partner dies they will return to the fold or flee forever (if their devil lord will be particularly displeased with them). Rokurokubi will never harm their own children if any exist, and these children have a chance to retame their mother (though thankfully not requiring the romance again).
  • Kelpie: Kelpie are shape shifting water demons who prefer to take the form of a horse, though they can also be seen passing as humans fairly often. Kelpie usually function as the shock cavalry for devils, as they are essentially able to function as horses that can move over water freely as well as fight as a human. Unlike many other shape-shifting demons, Kelpie do not take on the form of an idealized member of a person's race, instead having a completely unique human form with green-tinted skin. They are able to manipulate illusions to hide their skin color when pressed, but this is not their main focus as they are more of a fighting demon than an infiltrator. Kelpie can be broken like a horse, when this occurs they are no longer able to take on their human form and become, for all intents and purposes, an unnaturally fast, spirited horse which can breathe underwater.
  • Succubus/Incubus: Haha sex lol :P
  • Rakshasa: Rakshasa are shapeshifting monsters who possess saber teeth and sharp claws in whatever form they take on. Their preferred form is that of a humanoid tiger, though this is not their natural form, which is unknown. They simply prefer this form for its unqiue look and visible ferocity. Though this may seem similar to that of some Tai'shoni, the Rakshasa's form is larger and with sharper claws and teeth; they also look visibly evil. Another easy tell is that when Rakshasa become angry, their hair bursts in to flame, which does not harm them but is intimidating. All Rakshasa have powers of flight and illusion via magical means, as well as being magically persuasive. They are smooth talkers that may try to make deals similar to genies, but the Rakshasa can break their deal with no harm to itself, so anyone who wishes to deal with them must take care to get what they promised first. More advisable is to not deal with the Rakshasa, for though they take great care to appear reasonable and civilized, this hides their lust for death and violence.
  • Babic: This type of demon resembles a large, rotting primate. Their mouth is aflicted worst of all, which makes Babic unable to speak, only communicating in horrible rasping noises. Babic stand up to 10 feet tall and have great strength despite their decrepit appearance. They are also highly intelligent, which they uprimarily bend towards violence. Babic are able to change tactics on the fly and are usually trusted by devils to work independently on orders and modify them as long as the goal is achieved. Perhaps if Babic were able to speak or collaborate with others they could be an even greater force, but they refuse to work alongside others of similar strength.
  • Shurva: One of the main types of flying demons, Shurva make up the majority of the aerial forces of devils, both for their agility and combat prowess. Their most fearsome weapon is their spines, which cover their bodies and can be shot with great accuracy. Shurva spines are highly corrupted and can cause weakness in victims, which can last for days or even years depending on the severity of the strike. The weakness also makes the spines more lethal than they otherwise would, as wounds which a person could normally overcome are exacerbated. Shurva have two distinct methods of fighting depending on circumstance. When fighting alone, they try to position themselves so that they are lost in the sun, making it hard for those on the ground to target them and difficult to see their missiles. When fighting in a large enough group, they particularly love covering the sun or moon as much as possible, to try to lower the morale of their victims. This second method is only feasible in huge groups, which typically only occurs in devil-on-devil conlict. Shurva have wingspans of up to 12 feet and are much lighter than most class 3 demons, but their value on the offensive side of things more than makes up for their poor natural defenses.
  • Blask: One of the rarer type three demons, Blask appear similar to a charred corpse which exudes a thick black smoke instead of possessing a lower body. Blask are one of the hardest demons to kill with melee weapons due to their unique mix of physical abilities. Blask have several ribs showing at all times, thse ribs are like shark teeth in that they constantly grow. When in battle, Blask use their own ribs as swords, darts, and knives, depending on their size. Typically, each Blask carries several of each which have been honed to be even sharper than their natural form, but a freshly-pulled rib can be just as effective. Their smoke also has physical form and can be used to choke victims or block attacks, as this causes no harm to the Blask, so long as it has enough smoke to "stand" on. However, the smoke is only in physical form if the Blask wishes it to be, so it can also be used as normal smoke to blind or obscure vision, and attacking it typically has no effect. Since they have no legs, Blask can direct their smoke and carry them away at great speeds, making them hard to finish off even when weakened. Blask are excellent abushers and scout troops for this reason, which is their main use in the devil armies. Though not particularly intelligent, they never forget the face of one who has bested them, and sometimes make the journey into that person's home to kill them in their sleep. When observed in this process, the Blask seems to bend over the victim's bed and grin widely before enveloping them in smoke and choking all orofices until the victim suffocates in silence. Only after the victim is dead do they leave a rib bone carved into the victim's chest.
  • Ghora: Ghora are perhaps the first demon many think of when demons are mentioned. With goat horns and hooves, a squat shape, and flat head, they embody what many think of when demons are mentioned. In both size and shape they look similar to a troll, though with the previosuly mentioned deformities. Ghora have eyes as black as night, and looking into them inspires feelings of hopelessness. This, combined with their large size, makes them ideal frontline troops for devil-lords, since lesser beings will quail before them. Ghora can sense when an opponent is hopelessly afraid, and during these moments they will stop and stare at the unlucky soul until they collapse into madness. Once an opponent is disabled in such a way, Ghora leave them until the end of the battle. If the person managed to survive being trampled, Ghora will use them as a doll. What exactly they are looking for is uncertain, but they seem to be trying to figure out how the person functions, which is inevitable fatal as the Ghora either accidentally rips them in half or gets mad they cannot figure it out and rips them in half anyways. Despite barely showing emotion, this anger can be sensed in their vicinity, as it rolls of them in waves. Ghora have very little independent drive, and typically don't do much more than this unless otherwise instructed, though like most demons they seem to feel the thrill of battle once in one.
  • Ji'ik: The Ji'ik are creatures from a nightmare, comparable to a demonic sabertooth tiger. However, the Ji'ik are creatures of deep frost, and their short, coarse fur is covered in ice. The only part of the beast that has any sort of warmth is its eyes, which literally blaze with hatred for life. Because of this, the Ji'ik always appears to by crying, as water runs down from its face near its eyes. Of course, most people who encounter a Ji'ik aren't worried about whether it is crying, as its teeth are a much larger concern. These are its most prominent feature, and at the length of a human arms they give the Ji'ik an immense bite force. The teeth are also razor sharp and designed to break and impale in their victim, for the Ji'ik can swiftly regrow them using demonic energy. Therefore, a Ji'ik can attack using its full bite force with no regard for the damage to its teeth. Additionally, unlike a sabertooth, every one of the Ji'ik's upper teeth are this length. Ji'ik are the ultimate ambush predator in snowy lands, as their frosty fur blends in with the terrain and they can quickly spring in, bite clean through a person, and then retreat to fight another day. They are also quite hardy, and can survive great bodily injury, which is of course compunded by their elan.
  • Hariyat: Perhaps one of the more curious looking demons, the Hariyat appear to be long-furred blobs with giant claws. A Hariyat's entire body is covered with dense fur which impedes the progress of weapons seeking to harm it, except for its face and claws. The face is proporionally large compared to its body, with big eyes and a large mouth that it usually keeps shut. They prefer to feed in private, and unlike many demons do not emit loud, horrible screams during battle, usually working in silence. Besides its bare face, which is the main point of weakness on its body, the Hariyat also has horrible claws which are capable of rending a man in two with just one blow. They have extreme dexterity with these claws, and can use them to fight multiple opponents at once. The claws are also large enough to cover its face, so they have defensive purpose as well. Thoguh adept climbers due to their sharp claws being able to pierce stone, Hariyat are slow, and have problems stepping up due to their underdeveloped legs, so they are more effective as guards than active battlefield troops.
  • Abluzun: Abluszun are one of the most powerful goop demons, as they are highly mobile and flexible. Unlike most slime demons, which move along at a slow and sticky pace, Abluzun can transport the mass of their body quickly by pulling with pseudopods, since it can control which parts of its body are sticky at any given time. This method does leave a charactersitic stain on the surface, but is quite effective when staying on celings or walls where few look. Thanks to their great speed, Abluzun are also very effective at escaping from attacks, and due to their lack of a central nervous system can expunge parts of their body at will. Cutting them in half does nothing to harm and Abluzun, though eventually they will run out of mass and die. Abluzun can mold their body into the tightest cracks and can move through at immense speed by propelling themseves forward. When they are not aiming to kill or trying to stay out of sight, Abluzun seem to prefer to spread themselves very thin across the widest possible area and devote this time to growth. If left alone in dark corners they can grow to massive size, though this makes them slower, unwieldly, and easier to spot, so bigger is not necessarily better. It's unlikely that the ooze, which is not mentally gifted, understands this, however. Abluzun have a unique coloring, somewhere between a shimmering midnight purple and the black of pitch. While this is nearly indistinguishable to most in the dark, they seem to make those around uneasy and though they cannot see the Abluzun most will sense that something is watching them.
  • Rahkaram: The Rahkaram is a demon about the size of a large man, up to seven feet tall and barrel shaped. However, the race being imitated by this creature is indistinguishable due to its body being completely covered in scar tissue, bloating it somewhat and obsucring its features. With empty eyes that are pitted holes and a gaping maw, their heads are, if possible, even more ruined than the rest of their body. However, its legs and wings are comparatively normal, with the legs being that of a Varaiden rather than a man. Its wings are that of a bat, and are gigantic compared to its size in order to give it lift. These wings make the Rahkaram unable to really exist inside buildings, and they usually roost like a bat. Rahkaram serve as the air meat shields, taking shots meant for Shurva and giving them refuge. They are swift-healing and when damaged on their wings or legs the regrowth leaves no scar. Rahkaram are carrion feeders, and eat anything and everything dead, no matter the condition or age.
  • Heliri: The main spellcasters of demonkind, Helliri are another type of exclusively female demons. They resemble a human woman with her legs on backwards and six tentacles protruding from her back. Heliri, though capable of glamour spells, do not have the same seductress ability of a succubus, empousa, or even a rokurokubi. They are highly paranoid and fear everyone is out to get them, behaving irrationally from an outside perspective; though in their head they are shaking their enemies off their back. However, in battle this system kicks into overdrive, and the Heliri is able to utilize its magic to smite those who oppose them, tearing a path through the battlefield from many different angles. Their tentacles are used to protect and shield them from projectiles, though they do little to stop melee attacks with swords, spears, or lances. Heliri are able to outmatch most mortal races in terms of their spellcasting ability, though in some areas such as Synarxes they are often weaker than the locals.
  • Eori: Eori are highly dangerous demons which are specialized for tracking. They are avid hunters and never forget the scent of their prey. They have four, long thin legs, all attached at a single pelvis, from which their torso hangs down. From their torso, hangs two motionless arms and a head with glassy black eyes. Their stomach is slit open and has teeth growing out of it. These demons live off of primal instinct and will attack whatever they can catch, most of the time not feasting on their kill. They are able to gallop at 41 mph and can get as large as 12 ft tall, the smallest one ever recorded being 3 ft tall. Eori are highly aggressive and will attack their masters on a whim if not properly controlled; although this ferality has been attempted to be bred out of their bloodline when it is that leads them to also be less effective.
  • Infyrn: Infyrn are human-sized and shaped sentient flames, and are one of the more powerful fire demons. Although a living flame, they clothe themselves in magma armor, which slowly cools outside of their cores and hardens into a rock shell. This tactic, however, is not natural, as they no require a source of magma to produce such armor. It also makes them slower, though it does provide them with a huge boost in defenses. Infyrn, however, are powerful enough to sustain a clast of water and remain in form, unlike weaker fire demons. However, if submerged entirely, they will perish.
  • Chorös: A demon which looks similar to the preferred form of a Rakshasa but with a snake lower body and two snakes for arms. Though superficially resmbling a Rakshasa, the Chorös has entirely different abilities. The left snake speaks only lies and influences deciet and muder, while the right snake tell only truth (but usually out of context and twisted) and influences rage and violence. The demon's main mouth may speak either, and when focused within its gaze victims will take the words of both heads as fact. They are expert manipulators and very cunning, able to trick most mortals into doing their bidding without the victim even realizing it.
  • Oni: Oni appear similar to demonic ogres. In fact [in future canon], the name Ogre is a synonym for Oni because early colonists of Yehv thought Ogres were Oni. However, later tests revealed that there was no connection and Ogres were evil for their own purposes. The name, however, stuck. Nonetheless, there are some differences between Oni and Ogres. Oni, unlike Ogres, have one to three horns growing from their heads. Occasionally an Oni will have a third eye, and these Oni always have two horns. The Onis with third eyes are said to be experts in divination and temporal magic, but are no more powerful in general. Oni have brightly colored skin, usually red, sometimes blue, and rarely green or purple. Yellow Oni have been observed in the far past, and it is rumored that some Oni are born with orange and black tiger stripes. If so, this is unconfirmed. Oni are superhumanly strong, far more than their size would suggest, and have powerful magic to boot. However, due to their lack of ability to manipulate victim's mental, psychic, or emotional health, they are not classified as Category four. Nonetheless, Oni are probably the most powerful demons in Category 3. Oni are able to shapeshift for a short period of time, which is highly useful in a pinch, and they should never be underestimated. Their only weakness is their lust for blood and lack of skill in tactics, meaning they can be lured into ambushes.
