Category 2 Demons
The following is a list of category two demons:
- Nightmare: A nightmare is a spectral demon which consumes its victim's dreams. It is unknown whether the demon was named after the dream or the other way around. One a nightmare begins eating a victim's dreams it analyzes them to deypher the greatest fears of a victim, which it them casts as illusions when the victim is awake. This is used to make the victim's life a living nightmare and to weaken them before the final strike. The nightmare's final attack can be foretold as the victim's dreams and illusions in waking life will become more and more bloody and horrifying, as the demon begins to salivate for the kill, subconsiously influencing its projections. When it does strike, it appears to the victim and devours them in an extremely messy manner, relishing the pain and violence it inflicts. This process, from start to finish, had been known to take up to 4 months before the kill is finally made.
- Bajang: The Bajang is a shapeshifting demon that prefers feline forms. While it can take a human form there are a number of tells, such as cat eyes, claws, or ears. The Bajang feasts in a way reminiscent of a vampire upon a victim, returning each night to drain more blood unity the victim perishes. A Bajang usually imprints on a victim after its first meal, and after that point they can sense the victim wherever they may go. While they may turn aside for a time if more favorable prey is found, they will always return. Bajang are one of the most far-ranging demons and because of this a number have entered the service of non-devils via blood pacts. They are favored by evil witches and the like because they take a long time to digest their food, meaning the witch can harvest their meal and use it for spells. If not fed enough, a Bajang will turn on its pact-master and make them its new prey, though they will never do this to those that could stop them in time.
- Kappa: Kappa are demons confined to water. They become hostile when creatures enter their area of a river. Kappa dislike salt water and remain in fresh water at all costs. Kappa enjoy playing with their food and in particular are said to have invented waterboardingj, or at least inspired category one's Spirak. When as Kappa has had its fun it pulls a victim’s spirit out from their anus using demonic powers and leaves the body to rot underwater. Once it is sufficiently rotted, Kappa throw the body parts at passing travellers to scare them off. Physically, they resemble thin green humanoids with beaks and shells similar to turtles and are the size of a ten year old child. Their small size should not be underestimated however, as they posess power far beyond their stature.
- Nixie: Similar to Sirens, Nixie are water demons which lure their victims into the water with beautiful song (though of course Sirens do not actually live in water). Like many demons they can shapeshift and usually appear as an idealized version of a race’s body. Nixie use this romantic appearance to entrap sentient creatures and use them to do their bidding; this outward romanticism can actually backfire and turn Nixies benign for some time, though they usually go back to their evil ways soon enough. Using love as a weapon is unreliable, and therefore Nixie are the most likely demon to become good, or at least turn more mischevious and not evil. For this reason, they are not used for essential assignments.
- Limmem: Limmem are vaguely humanoid-shaped slime demons which have any number of limbs, but always two legs. Their exterior is formed by a gooey crust that can nonetheless become rather hard over time, but their interior is a corrosive sludge that leaks out as they move, leaving pockets of burning acid. Limmem can open their mouths extremely wide to encompass cornered victims and devour them whole, so running is usually a better option than hiding if one is pursuing you. They are very slow, which is their main weakness, as quicker enemies can run circles around them. Because of their slow speed, they are only really utilized on the defensive, which devils are of course rarely on.
- Volaex: The Volaex is a lesser demon which appears as a giant fly-like creature with two mosquito proboscises. At about 5 feet wingspan it is almost the size of a man but is rather fragile. They prefer to strike with surprise, and struggle against armored targets. Volaex are also not great at ambushing since their buzzing noise is rather loud, but they remain effective aerial ambushers thanks to their speed. Volaex suck a victim’s blood with one proboscis while injecting toxic fluid with the other. This fluid makes the victim behave irrationally, gain a high fever, and think about killing. With their mental state unbalanced, the Volaex imprints its will upon the hapless victim and compels it to run interference against its actions. Being entrapped by a Volaex is said to leave the victim paranoid for years afterwards; even when rescued most commit suicide shortly after.
- Empousa: Empousa are a type of demon which can only be achieved by a female demon. Much like many other demons, the Empousa are shapeshifters, but their natural form is rather close to a human's. This form looks similar to a thin or model-like woman with the exception of the legs, of which they have five. Empousa have one regular human leg, one bronze leg, one goat leg, one ox leg, and one donkey leg, and can shapeshift into any of these forms (the bronze form looks like a bronze statue). When in any of these forms, while masked, their donkey and bronze legs are always present, and when struck their bronze leg will ring like a bell. Because of their donkey leg, they always smell like a horse girl when in human form, but they can use perfumes and other ways of masking this. Empousa will try to entrap a victim much like a succubus, but instead of egging on evil actions while engaging in carnal pleasure, the Empousa will latch onto the victim's neck once they are entranced and suck out their soul (and blood). They use a number of different methods to entrap victims, from seduction to magic; as they are quite skilled in the magical arts.
- Samun: Samun are a demon species which inhabits a ghostly fire, and are the superior form of category one's Blisp. Samun are much larger than a Blisp and actually burn, giving them a form similar to a floating fire. Samun, much like Blisps, feed on fear, but they also feed on other negative emotions and can amplify them. A Samun's fire burns hotter the more evil acts are comitted in its vicinity, and they can become very powerful for a short time with enough betrayals, murder, and violence. They often imprint on evildoers and encourage them to become more and more cruel and violent. However, the Samun always desires more, and when a victim burns out on ideas, they will consume the one they have driven to this state, leaving nothing but ash.
- Octurn: Octurn are demons which have four pairs of legs, one facing each direction, hence their name. Octurn also have one arm facing each direction. Other than their impressive amount of limbs, Octurn have short, squat bodies with no neck to speak of and a rounded protrusion for a head. They are covered in quills as sharp as razors, but otherwise have no covering for their muscles and flesh, as they are skinless. Their heads, if they can be called that have no eyes and a single mouth which is full of razor-sharp teeth. Though they have no eyes, ears, or noses, they have the ability to sense life and are relentless trackers. For this, they are often used to pursue fleeing enemies or slaves, and have a high success rate.
- Draal: Draal are slug-like creatures which primarily inhabit the earth. Though shaped like a slug, they have many eyes and the mouth of a lamprey and are not as slimy. Draal have the ability to move through the earth like it is made of water, and can turn up almost anywhere. Though Draal are not able to move through solid rock, their bodies are very stretchy and they can usually maneuver through the tiniest of gaps in otherwise sheer rock. In order to assist with their movement, the Draal have the ability to control the amount of water present in the earth to turn it to mud or make it hard as rock in an instant. Besides their mobility and control over groundwater, Draal are also extremely toxic, and just touching one can cause a servere case of poison. However, provided one stays away from the Draal, they are easy to kill.
- Graul: The graul is a type of demon which have thick, compact bodies but many thin, grasping arms. Their mouth takes up the majority of their face and they are possessed with a never-ending unger. Graul snatch at everything living or dead within their vicinity and stuff it in their mouth, a constant process that brings them no satisfaction. Their only desire is to eat everything in the universe and then some, seeming to hope that when everything has been consumed they will be able to rest. The only reason Grauls serve Devils is that Devils are reliably able to give them food. Graul are often used as landfills, as with enough coaxing they will eat even non-food. Once a Graul has digested its food, it secretes a foul-smelling, though water-like substance. As Graul do not drink at all, they ignore their own offal.
- Mildzet: Mildzet are demons which have the body of a giant millipede, being up to 10 feet long. However, at one of their body they have a human face with bug eyes and a pair of mandibles that they use to snag their prey. Mildzet, though capable of speech, prefer to hiss in a language only they can understand. Besides their powerful mandibles, Mildzet have multiple ways to kill their prey. The back end of their body is a gaping maw with sharp teeth which allows them to fight multiple opponents at once. They can also wrap their bodies around a victim and squeeze their life out. When using this method, they like to torture and torment the victim, bragging about their victory and hissing contentedly.
- Waiyir: Waiyir are thin, hunched demons which have a look similar to a dessicated and tormented husk. Instead of arms they have long tentacles which grow very thin near their end, and they do not have hands. They have the ability to mimic human speech and use it to lure those who would help someone in distress to a location before garotting them with their string-like tentacles. Their particularly enjoy hanging by one tentacle above a doorway and ensnaring their victim with the other, as it makes it difficult for the victim to retaliate. Besides their tentacles, they move with an uneven, tortured gait, and have a difficult time making an escape. They are assassination specialists, experts at killing but not at fleeting. A devil which uses Waiyir to destoy an enemy typically wants to send a message that they do not care if the victims loved ones attempt retaliation, and are usually trying to goad them into a reckless strike.
- Zraiy - Zraiy are smaller and slightly stupid versions of the category three's babic. Thanks to their smaller size, they look more like chimps than gorillas, but they still possess the same rotting, oversized mouths. Zraiy typically work in packs, and so have developed a way of communicating with one another that the Babic do not use. They regard Babic with jealousy, resenting their intelligence but always following their orders. Each Zraiy wishes to become a Babic so that they no longer need to rely on their pack to cause havoc.
