Category 1 Demons
The following is a list of category one demons.
- Imp: An imp is a small demon with red to rust-tinted skin, large ears and small horns on its head. The imp also has wings with which is can use to fly short distances and a small tail. One of the weakest demons, Imps don’t have the ability to kill adults but they certainly think they do. They are excellent at causing absolute chaos and as distractions but have no real combat powers. Sometimes, groups of imps will kidnap children and throw them off bridges. When they can’t kill children, they settle for animals.
- Malmus: Malmus are demonic sludge, essentially. They entrap their victim and extract their souls, consuming their flesh as sustenance. Malmus are capable of forming appendages and shooting them at people, entrapping them in goo. They are usually too small to kill a normal person but are perfectly capable of consuming sleeping victims. They have the ability to spread sickness and disease with their presence. Malmus come in a variety of colors, but the most common seem to be black and purple breeds.
- Bukavyr - The Bukavyr is a minor demon which dwells in the water but had the ability to go on land is necessary. At four feet long, they are about the size of a large lizard. Bukavyr are unnatural, however, and can be clearly noted as such by their small horns, deep blue coloring, and six legs. The Bukavyr has hypnotic eyes which can entrapt the unwary and weak of will, but do not have the ability to command the hypnotized, usually just consuming them. it is easy to tell when a Bukavyr is near because they make strange grunting noises that can carry for up to a mile.
- Leyaki - The Leyaki is a floating head which gibbers incessantly at all times except when it is actively drinking blood. The Leyaki is notable as it appear similar to a human head but with massive and clearly insane eyes, a supersized tounge, and a small spine-like tail which constantly drips blood. In order to replenish its lost blood, the Leyaki sucks it from mortals, especially preferring that from periods or childbirth. Over time, repeated Leyaki attacks can completely drain a victim as they drink more blood than a normal being can replenish.
- Scarus - Scarus are scrawny, buglike demons with large multi-faceted eyes. They have carapaces that are quite hard on their backs and typically stand upright on one set of their six legs, the others being more like hands. The Scarus disrupt airflow as they pass, and consequentially are constantly surrounded by storms of dust, which annoys those who try to attack them. In a pinch, they can shoot this dust straight down an enemy's throat. Scarus are only of much use in deserts, as they can whip up much larger dust storms which may hide a demon offensive.
- Quazir - Quazir are similar to imps, but are green, much thinner, and lack the large ears of an imp. Quazir also have completely black eyes, which gives them a more sinister look than imps, though less of an emotional range of evil. Quazir tend to be in colors from white to dark green. They find joy in corrupting mortals, and try to tempt them into committing more and more evil actions. Often, Quazirs learn enough about a victim to know the perfect thing to say or do to tempt them into evil.
- Skroth* - A type of demon which has a stance similar to a hunchbacked man. Their bodies are covered in a thick, baggy coat which also winds around their head, leaving only their mouths visible. Skroth do not appear to have eyes and use hearing and touch to sense their surroundings. They are experts at mimicking voices which they use to attempt to sow discord and mistrust. They can project their voices like a ventriloquist in order to make it appear as though the voices are coming from another direction.
- Baliri - The Baliri are a curious species of demon whose main purpose seems to be the poisoning of wells and other water supplies. They look similar to a regular fish in body but have two turtle heads as well as two protruding arms, which it can use to flee the scene if necessary. It is colored a dull purple and constantly surrounded by a cloud of dark, fouled water. The cloud grows the longer a Baliri has been in a wide source, and drinking water from this cloud is usually fatal.
- Churr'uk - Churr'uk are one of the smallest species of demon, standing just six inches high. It is similar in form to a lizard, but stands on its hind legs and has very sharp, blade like claws. Churr'uk use these claws to slice and stab the tender places of victims. The favored tactic of the Churr'uk is to crawl inside the victim's mouth and ruin the inside of their digestive system. While inherantly fatal to the Churr'uk, this strategy ensures the most pain for the victim. If suicide is not desired by its masters, a Churr'uk often targets eyes, ears, and reproductive organs.
- Ignai - At first glance hard to distinguish from a will-o-wisp, a Ignai can be distinguished by the intermittent screams it emits, as opposed to wisps which are silent. Ignai also spread fear and paranoia, emotions which they feed off of. A blisp can be countered if their victim is not afraid, for the Ignai will keep emitting fear while recieving none in return, eventually running out of energy and perishing. Should the opposite happen, a Ignai can grow more powerful, and eventually the victim will die of fright, giving the Ignai a massive reserve of energy.
- Spirak - Spirak are one of the more disturbing category 1 demons, appearing similar to a pitch black man with bones (except for their skull) on the outside of their body. They are completely crippled and have no natural weapons or ability to move. Their only use is their powerful brains, which due to their condition are hateful and think only of evil. They are usually used by Devils as advisors, but they also make effective torturers, as they can think of endlessly fun (to them) ways of causing pain. Spirak enjoy torturing those stronger than them, which is just about every sentient creature, but hate being outmatched in intelligence and usually hasten to kill the intelligent so they can go back to their illusion of greatness. They have a special hatred for Ralon and love torturing them whenever the situation calls for it.
- Ghelph - The Ghelph are perhaps the dumbest demon of all, being little more than a feral animal and essentially a demonic ghoul. Ghelph resemble the bloated corspe of an elf, having none of an elf's grace or ability. Though surprisingly fast and durable for how bloated their bodies are, the Ghelph has no understanding of tactics and weapons, simply attacking non-demon and non-devil entities in a rage with their hands, mouths, and bodies. Thus their only use is as a meat shield. Ghelph are even useless in inter-devil conflict, as they percieve all devils and demons as allies and therefore only attack them in self-defense... unless they get hungry enough.
- Bavile - Baviles are one of the most reliable means devils have at their disposal for spying on mortals. They resemble bats but appear to warp space around them and cannot be detected while alive except via magic or some sort of true sight. If detected (it always knows) a Bavile will dive-bomb its enemies and hope to escape in the ensuing confusion. Baviles also transmit their sight via magic, which allows them to show real-time views to their masters (or anyone who can attune to their wavelength). Devils are constantly trying to attune to Baviles controlled by their rivals while making their own harder to attune to, which has created a Bavile arms race.
- Ralon - Ralon are rat-like humanoids standing about the height of a halfling. Ralon rarely attack except in large quanities, and prefer spreading hate from the shadows. Ralon are posessed with at least as much hatred as a Spirak, but none of the intellect to use it. Their shcemes are usually one-dimsensional and naive but they can be useful for spreading a Spirak's plans instead, though they dislike this. Due to this, there is a rivarly between the two, and Ralon always kill any Spirak they can get away with doing in.
