Blotnyin
The Blotnyin are the main culture of goblin in the north of mainland Telgren. They have a major presence in the swamps of Vneys Relvetsia, where against all odds they have managed to establish a civilized nation (of course their neighbors deny this). They are also present as slaves in much of the north, with their population scattered about and rarely large enough to cause a major ruckus. The differences in situation between slave goblins and those who have made a home for themselves is what has led to the rise of two separate sub-cultures of Blotnyin; the Mirkus and the Nieowyn.
The Mirkus live a rough life in the swamps; for several centuries their numbers built and dfferent tribes fought over the only land they were able to make their own. However, recently the Chilltooth tribe has claimed suzerainty over the swamps and started looking outwards. This has led them into conflict with goblins from the south, coincidentally fleeting to nearby regions. The Mirkus view themselves as superior to their enslaved cousins, seeing them as too lazy to run away and claim freedom. Should they come into control of the Nieowyn, they would probably keep them as slaves for this reason, as their goal is mainly to gain better lands and rule over all as a kingdom. The Mirkus have a single-minded dedication to this goal as a people, which gives them an eagerness in battle that may soon be cause for concern for their human neighbors. It should be noted that, for many years now, any captured Mirkus will commit suicide rather than become a slave.
The Nieowyn have it rough. Treated as cattle, essentially, they are used anywhere there is little ability to escape. The few free Nieowyn inevitably head to the budding cities of the region to find work, where they live in squalid conditions as a permanent lower class. They must always be careful of slave catchers, who will take random Nieowyn when they can't find escaped slaves. This policy encourages the free Nieowyn to rat out escaped slaves, which many do.
