Darah

Darah Ibrim

It has been many years now and I can see the Lord's hand in my life.     I never expected to be where I am, but I am blessed beyond belief.  I am writing this because I have been directed to do so. Certainly, none of this is by my own works or under my own power. I gave my will to God and He made of me a tool that was able to accomplish His work.   When the brothers came to my father and revealed the words of their father to my father, the spirit worked in him. Else why would we leave our wealth and follow them into the desert? Why would all my bothers, my sisters and my parents leave all of that?  I was young, and understood little, but we went.   The brothers were an interesting group. Some of them were very serious, focused on what the Lord through their father had commanded. Some were frustrated, and angry. They did not want to do what their father asked. I came to wonder why they just didn't stay home and enjoy their own wealth. Their father could not have prevented it. The people in town wouldn't know or care.   I found that my heart inclined to one of the young sons, he was the most serious of them all and the most driven to accomplish the will of his prophet father. I found that his heart inclined to me as well. Perhaps that was God's will also, because his brothers turned their anger towards him.   Who would believe that such hate existed? In brothers? That they would bind, and beat and intend to kill him - just because he followed his father.  It was horrible. I felt terrible, and powerless, but I knew something had to be done. What could I do? The Lord directed me.   I challenged those wicked brothers, I stood between them and their prey. I refused to move. I had the power fill me and they quailed before me.  They repented and allowed me to release this chosen son.   This was not the only time the Lord helped me to preserve this man, who became my cherished husband. I was given insight to know when to strengthen him, when to defend him, and when to share my inspiration with him. Together we were mighty, the Prophet and the Prophetess.

Personal history

The last born child in a large prosperous family, daughter Darah was both spoiled and teased by her five older brothers and four older sisters.

Better educated than many in her society, especially females, Darah was taught to read and write and displayed an aptitude for it. She was a careful scribe and could retain the long phrases of the spoken word well enough to keep up with the reciter with only occasional pauses. This skill was significant enough that despite her sex she was sought out by the learned to record their correspondence.
