Escort the Caravan

The first day of being in the camp is upon the party. The sunshines as its time for breakfast before their first mission as being a temporary honorary member of the Thorn.   The city of Hernford has had a terrible harvest and has purchased emergency aid from the Brotherhood. They've hitched up a wagon that contains supplies and food, as well as a few mercenaries to watch over the city for a few weeks, just in case bandits come expecting a food tribute.   Our heroes are tasked with picking a soldier to come with them, and escort the transport wagon through the Witchwood while mounted on worgs (or for Ram, just on foot). They are to turn back when the caravan has exited through the main entrance.
D100 Roll Outcome Event
1-10 Your mount hits a root and gets snagged, throwing you from the saddle (1d5 damage)
11-20 Your mount leaps over a fallen log, causing the pursuer closest to you to crash into the fallen tree killing it's mount
21-30 A hunter placed a tripwire and your mount doesn't see it, roll a dex check to see if the explosion does 1d10 damage, and roll a d20 to see if your mount survives
31-40 A hunter placed a tripwire and your pursuer doesn't see it. The explosion kills the chaser and the mount that they are on
41-50 Engage in dismounted, hand-to-hand combat
51-60 The caravan wheel breaks, beginning a protect the macguffin mini-mission
61-70 A Bone Picker swoops out of the sky and attacks you, stop the chase and face down against your opponent. A pursuer might stop and fight with the monster.
71-80 A Bone Picker swoops out of the sky and starts to devour an attacking hobgoblin and gives you time to escape
81-90 Reinforcements have arrived! Crimshaw and a group of archers race over the hill, coming to the aid of the main party
91-100 The caravan gains enough distance that you can rest assured that they won't be caught, so focus on finishing off the attackers

  4. Only one handed weapons can be used, ranged weapons can also be used but rolls are to be done with disadvantage
  5. The protect the macguffin mission lasts four rounds; an NPC will attempt to fix the buggy but they get slain. A party member has to be the one to fix the wheel itself so teamwork is required

Structure

Exposition

Grorr stood beside Sir Berran, their armor glimmering and glinting as the sun bounced off their back. "I hope you all enjoyed your sleep last night," Sir Berran clasped his hands together. "We require some work to be done today."   "Starting today," Grorr seemed cheerful. "We are making our forces into one. As per our agreement, all of my soldiers will earn a spot in the Thorn, and the Thorn will earn a spot in my military."   "Indeed," Sir Berran stepped into the spotlight once again. "This is a military operation, so what do you say we perform some military operations?"   They were standing with another man. An elf, no doubt. If his dagger-like ears didn't give him away, it was the teal cloak and the studded leather uniform of the Thorn. He was a proud looking man. His hair had traveled far down his back and hung past his rear. This was not a simple elf.   The weather was quite beautiful. The breeze danced gently and kissed the blooming trees. Despite all of the shade that was provided, the sun managed to bless every inch of the forest ground.   "This is Tyrael Aragolor," Sir Berran offered a hand out to indicate introductions. "When he was a resident of Ona Lenora he was well known for his ability to race any animal. His specialty was mounted worg combat races. He's become a sort of master of beasts among the Thorn, and he'll be leading this operation. Tyrael?"   "Thank you, my lord." Tyrael planted his hand over his heart and gently bowed his head. "The Elven settlement of Hernford is a small, young hamlet which has not had much time to take care of development. This was their first harvest, and the results they yielded was no where near satisfactory. Due to fear of not making it through the winter, and a threat of nearby bandits who might come looking for their tribute, they've reached out to the Thorn. They've purchased our services, which we intend to deliver.   "We've put together a caravan containing food, supplies, and some mercenaries to get Hernford through the winter. What we need from you is to join me in escorting the caravan through the Witchwood. Its obvious by now that a faction of hobgoblins, calling themselves The Free Heathens, is in pursuit of you an your queen. We have reasons to believe that now that our two factions are associated, anything we send will be seen as an action against the Heathens, and we feel as though they will thwart our options."   "As with all of my mercenaries," Sir Berran chimed in. "You lot will be rewarded and compensated handsomly. All you have to do is ensure our wagon makes it through the Wood's entrance. That's it."

Conflict

The party make it to the top of a very steep hill. As they reach the top, the caravan is ambushed by six worg riders and two foot soldiers. The soldiers trip one of the worgs and Tyrael beheads the other soldier.    The member who was tripped has to fight off the foot soldier. The caravan continues to dash, going down the hill. The six worg riders pursue heavily, which forces the rest of the party to continue chasing the caravan and ensure that it doesn't get contested.
