Session 1: A Light in the Woods

General Summary

Day 2

• Wok woke up first, and looked out the window to find that he had slept until sunset. Wok left to check on the rest of the party, everyone else had also slept through the night. They talked amongst themselves and figured out that none of them had any dreams at all.
• Selakiir tried to figure out why he slept, and came to the conclusion that maybe it just happened to him because of being on the surface, My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher also tried to figure out what happened to him, and thought that it was odd that he slept so long. Dew suggested asking the Innkeeper what happened.
• When they came downstairs, the Dragonborn from The General Store yesterday was asking about his missing party member. Dew joined the conversation and asked who he was talking about, and the Dragonborn said that his adventuring partner Marta is a Dwarf, and this morning the door to her room was unlocked, she was gone, and all of her stuff had been left in the room.
• Selakiir slipped back upstairs to see if he could find the room, he began trying each door to see if any were unlocked. and the Dragonborn walked upstairs behind Selakiir. The party followed him upstairs, watched him go into a room and saw that the room next to him was cracked open.
• The party checked in on the room, and saw that there was no one there, but there were several things left in there. The party investigated. Dew noticed there was no signs of a struggle happening. My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher found a bottle with oil residue in it.
• Everyone heard the Dragonborn coming back, and tried to hide. He came into the room and began to pack up the things that had been left behind. He looked up and spotted My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher trying to hide in the closet, he tried to flirt with the Dragonborn, and the Dragonborn made sure he wasn't stealing, then told him to leave. Wok was spotted as My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher left the room.
• Wok explained that he was trying to see if there was a connection between Usha and Marta. Wok offered to help, but the Dragonborn said he slept in way too late and had to leave without Marta because they were supposed to show up for a job. He gathered the rest of Marta's things, took the empty bottle out of her backpack, and left.
• Selakiir looked at the bottle and realized that it was the same shape and size as the one he had stepped on when he came into Arbordale. The party went to Selakiir's room to look around, and did not find anything odd, Selakiir asked if anyone had seen anything like the bottle, and they all realized that there were similar bottles at the Apothecary.
• The party left to go check the Apothecary, and saw a Human Man that looked like Lucia standing in front of the door. Selakiir asked if they could speak to Ilyanna, and the Human told him that she was not around. Wok intimidated him into letting the party check around the shop.
• Selakiir looked for Chamomile and Valerian Root, but didn't find any. He did notice that the back door of the Apothecary was ajar. They snuck through the door, which opened into a yard, with a house immediately behind the shop. As My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher was preparing to break in, Selakiir tried to open the door and found it unlocked.
• The group found their way into Ilyanna's kitchen and began investigating. They found nothing to indicate any sort of struggle, or anything that suggested she planned on leaving. Selakiir found out her front door was unlocked. Dew found a bunch of the bottles either empty or full of oils in a cabinet in her kitchen. My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher looked through Ilyanna's jewelry and did not find any snakes.
• My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher tried to pocket a fairy broach, but Wok caught him and called him out on stealing. Dew suggested talking to the Human that had been guarding the door. Dreamcatcher tried flirting with him, and found out his name is Lawrence. Dew asked if Lawrence knew what happened to Ilyanna, and he said that he didn't know what happened, he just noticed people acting weird around the shop, and when he went to check things out, Ilyanna was not there so he had to make everyone leave the shop, and he's been watching it since then. He also mentioned that it was odd for Ilyanna to just leave.
• Dew asked if Lawrence had seen anyone suspicious before Ilyanna disappeared, and he said that he had seen a tall, greasy human man that came to the apothecary after it had closed. Selakiir gave the description of the Human that they had seen around the previous day, and Lawrence said that matched who he had seen, and that he hadn't seen him that day.
• Selakiir's insight let him know that although Lawrence was annoyed with the group, he was telling the truth about what he had seen. The party returned to the blacksmith, and they picked up their sharpened tools and armor. Orion told them not to worry about paying for the services. Selakiir asked if he noticed anything weird the night before and Orion said that he noticed Ilyanna had a visitor, but it didn't seem to be in any danger, so he figured she had met someone and didn't pay much attention.
• Dew asked if Orion recognized the guy, and Orion said that the Human must have been from out of town. Wok asked if Orion knew where he had gone, Orion didn't know but suggested that he must have gone to the inn, or out to the veil woods.
• The party walked back into the market square, My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher brought up that everyone thought there were people camping on the Veil Road, but he hadn't seen anyone, and suggested going to look out there.
• Selakiir asked if anyone knew more about The Serpent, My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher knew that it was an ancient myth that had a bunch of different versions, but that all of them say that there is an evil thing trapped in the constellation.
• Dew knew that there are several druid groups use the constellations in rituals that were created in ancient times, and that the full moon has helped strengthen the magic of certain circles. She also knew that The Serpent constellation isn't supposed to be messed with or used in any rituals.
• Selakiir suggested going out into the road, everyone agreed. They noticed that the woods were eerily quiet as though something had scared the animals away. As they got further into the woods, they heard voices chanting in the woods. Following the voices, they noticed a light in the distance. They came to a clearing with big stones in a circle around the clearing, the light was coming from the center. The party saw people moving around the clearing.
• The light became brighter, and a huge creature crawled out of the light in the middle, and above them they saw that one of the stars in The Serpent constellation disappeared. They watched the circle, and saw three people grab some coffins, prop them up against one of the stones, and opened the lids to reveal the three missing women.
• Selakiir and Dew noticed the Human they had been looking out for in the light. Wok looked at the three women, and figured out that they weren't dead, just sleeping. The creature began to move toward the women, and Selakiir shot an arrow at it, but missed.
• Everyone jumped into action, My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher badly injured the Human from before, and he ran to the light, it wrapped around his arms, and seemed to heal him. The creature had a noxious aura around him that smelled terrible and dealt necrotic damage. Dew wild shaped into a glowing constellation.
• The group started going after the cultists, Wok's axe cut one guy in half, and one of them let the creature in the middle eat him, which caused two undead creatures to come out of the portal. Eevery few minutes, two more undead came out of the portal. My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher used magic to make one of the undead grapple another. Selakiir helped Wok andMy Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher take on the cultists and the undead.
• The creature grabbed The creature grabbed My Stage Name Is Dreamcatcher, and seemed to be draining his health, which healed both the creature and the Human. Dew noticed that when the creature got hurt, the human also seemed to get hurt, but after Wok took a chunk out of him, she noticed that the Human getting hit did not effect the creature.
• Wok hit the creature pretty hard, and the Human died, Dew ran over and stabbed the creature and it deflated into a black goopy puddle. As soon as the creature died, the light in the middle disappeared and the three women woke up.
• The party ran to check on the women, Wok checked on them, they seemed fine, but groggy and disoriented. Dew used the herbs that she got from the Apothecary with Selakiir and Ilyanna's help, and the three women were able to wake up a bit more. The party explained what had happened, and helped them back to town.
• As the party walked back, they noticed that it seemed like no time had passed, and when they arrived to town, the moon was still full above them, The Serpent constellation was missing. Everyone realized that it should be about 10 am the next morning.
