Ryagis existed for centuries as a ruined kingdom, a testament to a dynasty's greed and lack of foresight. In a time long passed, the Ryagian ruling family instigated against distant Komoyora across the Berennic Sea, a conflict driven by avarice first and foremost. They did not anticipate the advanced technologies possessed by the Komoyorans, however, and in short time the capitol city of Dunaal was reduced to smouldering ruin by the warmachines of the Rimed Throne. The territory was claimed by the then-Empire of Murne, but few attempted to resettle the steppelands, viewing them as cursed and unworkable for any farming or ranching. The Folly Kingdom, as it became widely referred to, was a waste left to crumble.   Within the past few decades, rising industrialization across Soln prompted an increased need for coal and raw metals. Operating off of dodgy reports from when Ryagis was still alive, a coalition of entrepreneurs began funding expeditons into the Folly Kingdom to try and uncover these forgotten veins. Their goal was technically never realized, as there really was little in the way of ores which hadn't already been claimed. What they did find, though, was vast quantities of oil underneath the shale rock of the steppes. Coinciding advancements in the refinment of oil into petroleum, diesel, and gasoline, these entrepreneurs formed a charter with the Republic to establish the Solnean General Oil Company. When the Republic collapsed, the company took a step further and hired mercenary armies to back them up when they claimed Ryagis as their own, and their efforts in revitalizing the country has brought Ryagis back from the dead to become a major economic force in Soln.
