Much to the consternation of its seaborne parent nation Breme, Othireme continues to surprass them on the world stage as the years continue. The discovery of oil deposits in the northern lands of the country, along with the iron mines in its mountain ranges, has made Othireme a dependable exporter of raw goods. While traditionally its military was used to maintain a peaceful but firm resistence to breme, the conflict in Korrigan and increasing instances of elven guerillas crossing the border has led to an expansion of their military forces to maintain their eastern border. Purchases of armaments from Isaldoria and Gravien round out their martial capabilities, something which Breme continues to protest against.
Tensions between the two countries is not helped by the fact that many Bremians are immigrating to Othireme in search of work. The country's policy of open acceptance of Bremian citizens has made for more than a couple of political standoffs with their parent nation. Extremists on both sides will occasionally make a move to try and escalate the two countries to outright hostilites, such as the attempted bombing of Mars Bridge by Bremian nationals, but so far negotiations have managed to stop a second war from breaking out between the two. The leadership of Othireme does seem to genuinely care for their estranged home country and is often willing to make great concessions in order to keep travel and trade as open as possible. Only time will tell if they can keep relations open for the foreseeable future.
