The woods of Korrigan have always been the traditional home of Soln's elves, named Llainlannor in their tongue, but for many years few claimed to live there. An untamed wild for centuries, Korrigan fell under imperial rule when the Empire of Murne first forced the elves into submission many centuries prior. Even after the reformation of the empire into the new Republic of Murne, Korrigan remained a vassal state that provided lumber to its protector state and the rest of the world. Most elves currently living now where never even born in Korrigan, much less possessing of any special connection to the country, but there does exist a handful who were alive when the empire took their home from them. These ancient elves still carry a burning resentment for the theft of their home, and when the Republic collapsed they siezed on an opportunity to reclaim their old domains. Control of Korrigan initially fell to General Usar Franzeldt of the Murnean Home Army, but soon his dominion was tested by elven guerillas launching raids on his settlements. These radicalized elves are spurred on by the worlds of their ancient forefathers, seeking to drive the last remnants of the imperial bloodline from their forests and reclaim Korrigan as it once was, as the Woods of Llainlannor.   Nowadays, travel through the wooded country is extremely inadvisable for non-military personnel. The guerillas are known to be indiscriminant in ttheir attacks, seeing any interlopers as potential threats. Even other elves, if they didn't arrive with the express intention of joining the guerillas, are treated with suspicion and are held at arm's length. The army of General Franzeldt, for their part, have fought back against the insurgents by employing scorched earth tactics in parts of the country known to house elven settlements, rendering large swathes of ancient forest in cinders in an attempt to burn out the radicals. What few lumber companies that still operate in the country hire out mercenary companies to provide protection since General Franzeldt seems to have no interest in assisting them. Many have theorized that he's trying to force out both the elves and the logging companies so that he may claim Korrigan for himself.
