A mystery appears before Bayushi, and the Ki-Rin gain another Family.

No one had yet impressed the lady of the Scorpion enough to personally draw her attention like that of her siblings. Until a mystery appeared. First appearing as a stable boy, and later that same night as an entertainer holding a knife to Bayushi's throat. When Bayushi asked for a name, they introduced themselves as Shosuro, and it seemed that changing appearances was an easy task for them.   Bayushi realised that Shosuro possessed a gift for this far beyond that of any shapeshifter she knew of that were often animal spirits in disguise, and after careful thought offered Shosuro a place within the clan. Accepting, Shosuro suddenly came into the social spotlight as a leader for the enigmatic Shosuro Family of the Scorpion.   As the Utaku had integrated well into the Ki-Rin, Ide sought Shinjo to speak with privately. In their conversation, Ide told her that he had spoken with Doji at length, learning much about not only diplomacy but also of the coming changes ahead. He told her that there would be a need for dedicated emissaries and diplomats for the clans, as Doji's teachings had shown him, for the foundation of the Empire so far seemed to be the agreed upon peaceful ways, and they would have to be maintained.   Shinjo agrees with Ide's proposals, and decides that it will be Ide's duty to do this for the Ki-Rin. Ide forms the Ide Family, and begins to work in earnest to train others in the ways of diplomacy in the example of the Crane, but with the honest nature of the Ki-Rin.
