Land of Strife, Goat Kingdom

The Goat clan is ruled by the wielder of the Celestial Blade "Obsidian Horizon" who is the strongest martial artist from the two sects, Orthodox faction and Demonic Cult. They are organisations dedicated to the practice of cultivation and martial arts. Only a truly skilled martial artist can wield the blade or they will die. All sects within these schools will follow the wielder until such a time as someone can defeat them. If the ruler were to pass before being defeated then those within the ruling school would seek the strongest martial artists to take up the blade.

Capital

Hollow Horn, also known as the "Gateway to the North", is the first stop many take on the road towards the monastery of the Golden Emperor on Heaven’s Mountain and the Northen areas of Sheng Xiao. Both major schools of martial arts within the region have a presence within the inner city with regular citizens and it is the location where many challenges for the Celestial Blade take place.

Domestic Clans/Factions

Orthodox faction

The Orthodox faction is a sect who practice accepting the world as the principle for their martial arts and cultivation. Channelling pure and fresh Qi from the world around them. They align themselves with the principles of justice and cooperation which has led to them widely receiving a high reputation and favourable image though they can be criticised for being hypocrites.   The sect itself is comprised of 9 smaller allied sects which have been run by members of 5 great families within the Orthodox faction since the founding. The 9 sects are the Ram Sect, Sheep Sect, Summer Sect, Emei Sect, Primrose Sect, Mount Tian Sect, Kunlun Sect, Qingcheng Sect, Mount Dǒu Sect, Kongtong Sect and Beggar Gang.
5 great Families

Namgoong
The Namgoong are a family that specialise in sword arts and are known for their Azure Sky Blade. Members of the family lead the Sheep Sect.

Tang
The Tang are a family that specialise in medicine and throwing daggers in their martial arts. The Primrose Sect is lead by a member of the Tang family but never the head of the Tang Family.

Peng
The Peng are masters of raw strength and the axe. Known for their formidable strength, strong bodies and fierce nature. They proudly lead the Ram Sect and have a rivalry with the Mount Tian Sect.

Jaegal
The Jaegal don't specialise in any specific weapon and instead are dedicated to the study of military tactics. The family members throughout history have had strong ties to the Mount Dǒu sect and have a residence on the mountain.

Murong
The Murong are known for their blacksmiths and specialise in polearms. Possessing unique polearms only they have been able to master and wield effectively. Their skills have kept them as the head of the Summer Sect for generations and the sect has gained numerous unique and powerful weapons because of this.

Demonic Cult

The Demonic Cult are a sect who practice clawing at the world as the principle for their martial arts and cultivation. Channelling impure and corrupted Qi tainted my human emotions. Their principles revolve around survival of the fittest and taking power with your own hands. This has negatively affected their reputation at times however they are thought to be an honest sect.   The sect itself is headed by the "Demonic Master" who leads the sect. They have two deputies known at the Left and Right Bright Messengers. Below the Messengers are the Four Guardian Kings who oversee the different internal sects known as the Five Banner divisions. The Five Banners are divided into the Five elements each with its own Chief and all remaining members are spread across these different divisions across the Land of Strife.

Culture

The Goat clan is known for their dedication and many live their lives in service of cultivation. People believe that by harmonising their body, mind, and spirit that they reach a realm close to that of the divine allowing them to live longer and more prosperous lives. Even less intense practices of this philosophy in daily life will lead to a better health so even commoners practice it. In this pursuit of the divine it has led to many internal conflicts within Goat clan giving reason for people to seek their own power in whatever source they can find. Those with power are respected as are those who reach a state close to the divine such as the wielder of the Celestial Blade. Those who dedicate their lives to cultivation are known as cultivators and are expected to carry more of their own weight and burdens than those of commoners. The only ones who can seek justice for the wrongs committed against a cultivator are themselves and those who wish to take on those burdens as well. This makes it a common trend for revenge to form a cycle of violence for cultivators and their sects.

Military

The Goat clan is unique in that there is no standing military. The two major sects oversee their own forces and work together for wars and otherwise protect their own territories from invasion. The wielder of the Celestial Blade instructs them and any sects or groups they wish within the clan personally for any conflicts and causes they deem to be worth their attention. This means that whatever force is faced as part of the military efforts of the Goat clan can vary wildly depending on the conflict for better and worse. However, compared to the other 12 great Clans the strength of the general populace is much higher.
