Naming Traditions

Surnames work differently depending on the sex of the child.
Female children inherit the first and last names of their fathers. For example Kara Zor-El. Her father's name is Zor of house El and thus Zor El.
Male children only inherit the house name. For example, Kal of house El is Kal El.
When marrying the women have the option of keeping their father's name or taking their husband's name.
