Children's Day

Write about a day that celebrates the youngsters living in your world.

History

Children's day was not a well-known holiday of the previous United States and was often deemed not a real holiday. However, Alex's family celebrated it every year just as they would celebrate either Mother's Day or Father's Day.   After becoming king and a mother, Alex continues the tradition and celebrates Children's day with her children. The people of Dovahnor began copying her and the holiday became extremely popular.

Execution

In Dovahnor, on June 1st children are celebrated. This holiday is for all children, but most often reserved for those who are minors. Children, under the age of 18 are typically given free things from vendors, stores, and markets such as food, sweets, toys, entertainment, or whatever else the market feels like providing. Nearly all restaurants will have a "kids eat free" special on this day.   Children with parents currently in their lives typically celebrate the holiday through different methods. The most common celebration method is a day of (near)absolute freedom. The child is allowed to do things they typically aren't allowed to for whatever reason. This does not include illegal or dangerous activities, though children do like testing the boundaries.    Other popular celebration methods include visiting entertainment centers aimed at children, visiting restaurants, and throwing parties for children.   For adults without children, but want them, they typically engage in activities to procure them. Because of this, there has been a spike in children born in February.   Adoptions also tend to spike around this holiday, unfortunately, over 70% of adopters in the months of April and May, return their children within one year. Alex has put into place rules to prevent this, and instead of allowing adults to adopt children "just for the holiday", she has helped adoption centers start the "Take A Child Out" (TACO) program. This encourages adults to take an unadopted child out for the holiday and celebrate them. The program has received mixed results but they are mostly positive. Some children who suffer from attachment disorders are not allowed to be taken out on this holiday.

Participants

Alex celebrates the holiday by letting her children make rules that she has to follow for the day.
