Watercups

Watercups are a species of aquatic plant, native to the Central Punjuki Mountains.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

The plant typically grows in fast flowing streams, usually at high altitudes, although it can occasionally be found in the upper reaches of the Mill River, the Green River, the River Stal and the Hokall River. It is a common species in the Highloft plateau area.

Biological Cycle

Watercups flower at the beginning of the southern hemisphere summer, usually a week or so into the month of Kerax.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

There is a minor festival held in Highloft on the 7th of Kerax, which celebrates the opening of the bright blue blossoms. This is known as the Opening of the Watercups and is seen as the start of summer.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Punjuki, in the Central Punjuki Mountains and particularly around the area of Highloft.
