The Saturated Sting
A sentient species of giant arthropods with a hive mind and an expansionist agenda. The Saturated Sting are not usually strong enough to breach the barriers between realms on their own but they are sensitive to fractures induced by other powers and have capitalised on the weaknesses of evolutions which were under stress to subsume them into their own domains, most recently in the unfortunate case of the realm now known as the Consumed World.
Imaged above are two male shock troops, imprisoned in a sampling raid during one of the borderland skirmishes when the Saturated Sting briefly came into open conflict with the Stability Council. This pair later escaped and the incident led to some significant setbacks for the defending forces. The Saturated Sting should never be underestimated.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Saturated Sting have a body plan which very much resembles a flying scorpion on Earth Prime, but they are much larger. The males are between two and three metres in length and coloured a deep crimson red, whilst the females are a little smaller and their irridescent blue carapices are partially reflecting. The head segment houses large twin pincers whilst the mouth is flanked with sharp and poisonous fangs. The central body segment has a twin pair of long diaphanous wings, enabling them to fly rather in the manner of a dragon fly. The last body segment contains a resevoir of toxin which can be delivered via a duct in a needle sharp bone at the tip of the tail.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
The Saturated Sting have infested many realms within the Fever Dream and can rarely be a danger to the evolutions when the shifting geometry of the Discontinuum provides them with an opportunity to cross to stable worlds.
Average Intelligence
Individuals show only a basic level of intelligence perhaps akin to that of a dog in other worlds, but collectively when participating in organised activities directed by the hive mind, they can be capable of sophisticated planning.
Civilization and Culture
Average Technological Level
The Saturated Sting are technologically advanced, particularly in the areas of chemical processes and aerial construction. Although they can fly without vehicles, they use giant swarm and seeding aircraft to travel faster than the nature of their own body plan would allow and to spread contrails which serve to change the atmosphere of planets they occupy.
The illustration below shows a number of aerial seeding vessels, patterned on a species the Saturated Sting once enslaved within the Fever Dream in their pre technological days. The giant hoppers used to serve them rather in the way that horses served humanity. They are exinct now but the Saturated Sting remember them in the designs of these aircraft.
