The Bloomguard

The Bloomguard are the civic protection service for the city of Highloft, acting as an enforcement agency for the laws of the High Gardeners. They are organised in divisions which specialise in particular aspects of their duties.

The Vine Keepers

Officers of this division are charged with guarding the vital arteries of Highloft—its roads, pathways, and supply lines, much like vines that connect different parts of a plant. They ensure that these lifelines are secure and free from any threats. This includes airships operating out of the city where Vine Keepers provide onboard security.

The Weeders

The Weeders investigate and respond to low level criminality within the borders of Highloft, ranging from petty theft and public nuisance, up to criminal damage and minor assaults.

The Thorn Marshalls

The Thorn Marshalls deal with those difficult and important cases which require experienced and skilled investigators. This includes the activities of organised crime and all serious offences against the person, such as kidnap, rape and murder.

The Canopy Force

The Canopy Force is charged with ensuring the security of the High Gardeners both personally and in their civic duties. They are also responsible for the protection of public spaces and events.

The Tendril Watchers

The Tendril Watchers are a secret service within the Bloomguard. They act as spies for the High Gardeners, both in the home city and on foreign soil. There is an intimate relationship between ambassadorial duties and the remit of the Tendril Watchers and it is thought likely that Tendril Watchers are managed by ambassadors abroad.

The Ironwood Sentinels

Ironwood Sentinels are a specifically military branch of the Bloomguard, reponsible for the defence of the city against any external attack. Although limited in number, they are highly trained and have on rare occasions been deployed in actions beyond the limits of the city in the defence of its interests.
