The ambassador frowned as the entertainment proceeded. Two shield maidens from the Dawn Guard would fight for the Lord Emperor's favour, until he called a mercy halt or one of them died. Barbaric nonsense but unfortunately it was necessary to attend this event and to flatter the Emperor, politics being what it is and the Great Empire of Sand marching everywhere into battle.
Perhaps there was something else that might tip the balance of power? The ambassador had just come from a secret meeting with Amourelle, the youngest concubine of the Emperor and sympathetic to her northern origins. She had told him something most intriguing about the great gemstone known as the Heart Of The Sun that lay hidden in the Temple of the Sun. Interesting information for sure, and yet hard to know exactly how to use it. Much thought would be required.
