Namrata Gold

Namrata Gold was the first Rani of Katrapetch, the wife of Raja Lortheran Gold.   She was married in 9625 BPC at the age of 32 and the title of Rani was bestowed on her by her husband in 9611 BPC when he claimed the throne of the city. As such, she became the first holder of a title that would be used by the wives of very many city rulers to follow. It was one she relinquished when Lortheran died in 9586 BPC, even though she would go on to outlive him by another ten years.   This disparity between the life long honour that automatically belonged to the Raja and the contingent and transient nature of the title of Rani, reflected the patriarchal bias that would characterise Katrapetch royalty for many thousands of years to come.   Namrata and her husband had non-identical twins, one boy and one girl born in 9619 BPC. Tragically, they both drowned in a boating accident on the Jold river in 9608 BPC. This left the city with no clear hereditary ruler to succeed the Raja after the death of Lortheran Gold.
