Mandron Blake was the first leader of the New Sophisticates. He was born 27 years before the start of the Foundation Age and went on to play a crucial role in establishing the structures of the new society that would follow after the end of the Season Of Innocence, becoming the first Principle Speaker of the Parliament, a role he himself defined as "the one who gives voice to the principles of the parliament", thus principle with the implication of "moral policy", rather than principal with a meaning of "first", although as a pun that meaning also conveys something true about the way the role worked.
