Fisher King Maris II was born in 1832 APC, the third son of the Fisher King and Queen, Nathaniel and Verity Lomas and not expected to inherit the throne of Nephatar. He did, however, inherit the love of the sea common to the royal line of the city, and had the luxury of being able to work as the captain on the fishing vessel, the "Pride of Laque", a role he played largely incognito, masquerading as no more than a wealthy but ordinary citizen with the means to own and manage a boat but only admitting his connection to the royal family to a few close friends and advisors.   He married a priestess of the Way of the Harmonic Path named Hella in 1873 APC, a story which is recounted in the traditional tale of Hella and the Widow.

Hella brought the fabled Net of Pruth into the family and when Maris ascended the throne in 1891 APC after three separate tragic events had resulted in the death of both his older brothers and finally his father, the Net of Pruth, an heirloom of his wife's descendants, became an heirloom of the Fisher Kings and Queens, since these were now one and the same.   Maris II died in 1914 APC at a relatively young age from an unknown but sudden cause, believed to be a heart attack, possibly induced by cold water swimming. He was succeeded by his young son, King Wintham I.

Reign

King Maris II reigned from 12th Chiroth, 1891 APC until his death at an unexpectedly early age on 8th Tuzzle, 1914 APC.
