Alistair Newton was the Darkest Umbral of the Justice of the Shadows between 4835 APC and 4890 APC.
Widely considered to be one of the most effective leaders of the cult he was cunning, ruthless and had an astute political brain. Intriguingly, he may have been one of the few leaders of the cult to gain an important measure of control in his relations with the Envoy of the Shadow Suckers, perhaps even briefly exercising his own authority over the growing Shadowlands against the will of the policies of the Ancient and Glorious.
Newton was apparently interested in the growth of the Shadowlands as a stable political entity and when he looked for expansion it was to the east where there were relatively easy pickings. His masters, however, wanted to press ahead with the conquest of the western port of Oroth which was of more use to their long term plans. Eventually, they became frustrated with the slow pace of the Darkest Umbral and they arranged his assasination in 4890 APC.
