Personal history
Gertrude comes from a rich, but very loving family. Her family would have preferred her to become a doctor or something but Gertrude wants to take care of children. Unlike most rich parents however, (at least in fiction), they are very supportive of their daughter in her chosen field. Her father bought her a house near the college as she wanted to be independent and close, but living in residence is, according to him, ‘too plebeian’. He also wanted to send her an allowance every few days in the mail but Gertrude, again, wanting to be independent, got a job at a coffee shop instead.
While at college, Gertrude came upon a hungry, “homeless” cat and took it in, completely oblivious to the fact that it is actually an extremely powerful shape-shifting alien.

Though his rather obvious crush on said coworker is pretty cute. And she’s seen him help an injured puppy once so he can’t be that bad of a guy.
