Candlekeep

The library of Candlekeep is the single largest library on the mainland of Archea. To get there one must trek far up the mountains or know the teleportation runes. While not explicitly a town/city/village there's a fair few number of semi-permanent inhabitants. Most notably Barnabus truthseeker, a man so insufferable he is essentially forced to live in self isolation with some of the time constructs he has created. As well as Gulfkurt Jonez, the representative and senator for the Arcane library. The mages that dwell here are even more powerful than some of the Archmages of the Magnishitaud region. While serving a similar purpose as the labs of Magnishitaud, Candlekeep focuses more on the theory of magic and spell craft rather than the applications. The rules are less strict as not much of the research will ever leave the library. Bloods magic and necromancy aren't off limits here, but all research on those subjects is overseen by a council of mages. In a recent research they have been studying closely the relationship that wish magic has with the abyss. A theory brought on by a mage who recently lost his ability to cast magic after accidentally using a wish scroll.
