Shield of the Redeemer

A tall heater shield of unknown origin. It seems celestial in design and purpose, but beyond that precious little is known of who made it. It appears like black steel with brass borders, and in the center there are ornate carvings which are difficult to see. However, when using the shield these carvings begin to glow brighter and brighter with every hit.
This shield allows the wielder to absorb half of any damage taken from the previous turn into a pool of healing (the player still takes the full amount of damage, but half of that number goes to the pool). Using an action (bonus action if in the late game), the player can choose any creature in sight within 30 ft; A beam of light emanates from the shield healing this creature up to the full amount of the pool.
