Lyrabar

Lyrabar is the capital of the Impilitur Kingdom in the northern Sea of Fallen Stars. Directly west of Thay, they were once bitter enemies but in the past year they have recently become close allies. 
Lyrabar is a grand but narrow city that stretches along the northern shores of the Sea of Fallen Stars. Its opulent buildings show off the kingdom's former wealth, and also hold the largest prison in the Sea of Fallen Stars area.
Somewhat recently, the ruling council began to allow The Red Wizards of Thay the right to establish enclaves in their borders to the shock and dismay of many citizens. This action is believed to be an appeasement to the merchant class of the city and a selfish endeavor to line the pockets of the ruling council. Others see the alliance as part of a larger political plot to align with Thay, and help re-establish the failing Tower of the Wind, a renowned academy of magic. This academy for magic used to be the best in the region, whose mages were often hired out to merchant groups.
