History, and politics are complex. One is always biased towards one side or another, and if they prove themselves completely unbiased, they end up accused of being biased against every sides at the same times. What is more, people seem to have a lot of troubles understanding the notion that their may be more than two sides in a conflict, which makes deciphering a political mess all the harder. Nevertheless, this almanach sums up the political history of the Cylinder from the height of the Trisean empire, to the current Merinian golden age. Modern and past political entities are described, major conflicts are described from several points of views.
Ninety-first edition, published in 5550 thanks to the work of several collaborators from inside and outside the library. Due to political pressure, many of the sources wished not to be named. The Political almanach has remained an actively published encyclopedia since early 5200, and is deemed a work of public utility by the Common Service of the Library.
