Valkur
Legends whisper that Valkur was once a mortal man, a heroic sailor who showed such heroism in battle against the forces of Umberlee that the gods granted him a spark of divinity.
When he manifests in the Crossroad Realms, Valkur may appear as the aurora borealis, a misty wind, or a fair ship always just beyond clear sight. When he appears this way, he is usually leading his faithful to safe harbour. When he intervenes more directly, his avatar is a ten-foot-tall human man with light brown, weather-beaten skin and black hair kept neatly coiffed in a sailor's pigtail. He wears the regalia of a captain, with a navy-blue and gold coat, tricone hat.
Divine Domains
Valkur is associated with sea travel, exploration, and ship-building for the above purposes. He has a hand in sea weather and tides, but does not hold command over sea creatures. The struggle to explore in spite of the threats of bad weather, ship-wrecking monsters, and even pirates is key to Valkur's sphere of influence, and is sacred to his clergy.
Artifacts
Valkur's mighty cutlass is also a potent divine artifact. In addition to being a very effective slashing weapon, it could transform into a harpoon. Valkur is then able to use his harpoon to draw even enormous enemies within range, then effortlessly convert it back to a sword.
Valkur's own vessel could possibly be considered an artifact, if an exceptionally large one. The Windjammer is a fantastic, fully-decked, five-masted vessel that is able to sail anywhere but solid ground, easily traversing the magma seas of Ignia, as well as the skies over the Realms.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Valkur's symbol is that of his church: A storm-cloud with three thunderbolts. Though the Captain is not generally known as a wrathful figure, he is mighty in battle, and the threat he can pose to those who would stymie his work cannot be understated.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
More than anything, Valkur's stated mission is to encourage and support the bold exploration and navigation of the sea by mortal beings. At the same time, he does not dream of a world where everyone travels without risk or fear. Rather, he wants to help mortals find the boldness and self-efficacy to face their fears and conquer them.
