Razorvine

Also called Bladeleaf, Steel ivy, and wirevine, this spiny foliage spreads quickly, posing extreme risk to unarmoured creatures who brush by its razor-sharp ridges.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Razorvine spreads quickly in long, tangling branches. Its leaves are ordinary and have rounded edges, but the stems are extraordinarily sharp, and continue through the leaf in raised ridges. These stems and ridges are sufficient to cut most skin at a touch, and while it is an ordinary plant without sentience or animation, simply navigating through a thicket of the stuff poses a serious hazard to any traveller.

Growth Rate & Stages

Considered extremely invasive, razorvine grows quickly and requires very little to survive. The sharp ridges are present in even young growth, and it usually clings to surfaces as it grows outward. Like most plants it grows toward sunlight, but water sources have little effect on its growth, as the plant requires very little moisture to thrive.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Razorvine does especially well in dry climates, requiring very little water, and is able to extract iron it needs to support its metallic ridges from minerals in the soil, or from fluids containing it. For this reason, razorvine fed with blood grows especially well.
