The Silent Tongue

The Silent Tongue is the language of dreams. It is the deepest desire of your soul expressed. Dreams cannot lie, neither can souls.

Dreaming

The details of how one learns the Silent Tongue are foggy. The Court of Daggers speaks it and teaches it to its Fey subjects, some human ones too, but how the Court learn it nobody knows. Greywoot mages have been able to pick up on some of it through encounters with Konsearnan witches, however their understanding is quite limited in comparison. You can learn it through dreaming though. Those of us who are fortunate enough to dream, especially Ichor-induced dreams, will pick up snippets of the language. Whispers from the edges of your sleeping mind. There are stories of people who dreamt entire conversations with loved ones in the Silent Tongue and woke up with a potent understanding of it. Other human mages recount stories of Fey contacting them in their dreams - rambling fluently in silence.

Contracts

When you're first learning to dream and to speak the Silent Tongue - you will merely observe. You will see the souls of the world and you will hear them speak. If you wish then you can speak back. This process of dreaming and communicating with souls is how most mages will start out.

When I dreamt, I was back in Pearlshaw. The waves spoke to me. They told me they wanted to crash against distant cliffs.
