The Isle of Strathmore
Geography
The Isle is a strange mix of varying types of climates and geographic features. When viewed from the central city, Wratholme, things get more extreme in each direction. To the North is the beginnings of a hilly grassland that gets progressively mountainous and snowy. The East is a forest that gradually gets denser and, fauna wise, more dangerous. Some suspect that there are gateways to other planes when you reach the edge of the island's forestry. To the West is a grassland that builds up to be a desolate sort of coast. Not many venture out to this area unless absolutely necessary.
It is these strange natural formations that have entrenched the Plague Lords so firmly into their respective regions - were it not for their environments, the plagues may have never gotten so virulent and powerful.
