Personal history
Vanessa was the third of four children born to a family of factory workers. She had a normal Fuyaoan upbringing, but at the age of three found herself lost outside on a day where smoke was billowing out of the factory due to a minor fire. Her mother credits this day for the reason Vanessa has always had sinus issues since that age. The doctors over time have never been able to rectify it.
As a child Vanessa had a hard time making friends. It wasn't that she couldn't navigate child social norms, but more that she found those tasks tedious and unnecessary. This gave her an excuse to focus more on her studies. She became incredibly book smart. She even would ask for additional homework from teachers, and many were happy to oblige.
By the time she was ten, she was one of the youngest students suggested to start the apprenticeship programs for research and development at Fuyao Beimei. Within a couple years Vanessa found the research that she considered the most entertaining to research--collisions.
Since the age of 15, Vanessa has focused on developing and producing window technologies that have become more and more resistant to dangerous shattering due to crashes and other outside collisions. Despite having worked on this for decades, Vanessa never tires of it. She even takes work home and thinks of other problems to solve. Currently she uses her higher salary to help afford a bigger home for her youngest sister who has a family of four. The five get along well enough, although Vanessa's work causes her to be distant.
