Hellish Traps

The Champions of the North headed to back home to recover after the long battle. When they arrived a parade waited for them, however it was cut short by an arsine & assassination. Helsa, who had been looking into information for Hype, was murdered by the D4C. The party took the villian back to their headquarters and Sigrid attempted to raise Halsa back to life with her magic and some mournful tunes from Breeze. Unfortunately, the weapon used to kill Halsa was cursed and sent her soul to hell, causing Sigrid to become trapped in the spell and follow it in hell itself.    Not willing to lose another party member to hell, the team rushed to find a way to rescue them and left to meet with Team G & B in Samarra.

The party headed south, now famed as the Champions of the North finding friendly relived faces and grateful crowds. In their hometown of Shaharr they were met by a parade in their honor organized by the City’s Saredar (mayor) Kankad, a tight grandma.   The parade was cut short by an outbreak of fire at the Saredar’s Palace (more a government building than a place but eh) and Hype recognized the room as being where the information broker and local official, Halsa Kankad had her office. (Also the Saredar’s niece and Yarrow’s girlfriend)   The party lept into action and captured the perpetrator, a fiendish warlock and D4C operative Xekai, defeating the devils he summoned and pulling Halsa’s dead body from the fire.   The party headed quickly to their HQ, locking up Xekai and trying to bring back Halsa. Matigold attempted to restart her heart to no effect so Sigrid agreed to perform a ritual to raise Halsa from the dead.   While the ritual was performed Marigold, Hype, and Maris interrogated Xekai. With Marigold rooting around in his head after force feeding him a delicious “truth serum”, the party discovered he had been ordered to remove Halsa as she had been asking too many questions about Hype’s necklace left to him by his father and a mysterious noble house that has disappeared from history.   The party also doscovered these orders came directly from the head of D4C, Director Young (in mind flash backs a large man with thick mane of hair and two tiny devil horns) but the exact details of why had been withheld.   As Sigrid and Breeze neared the end of the ritual, an infernal energy welled up, snapping several of Breeze’s strings and in ablaze of sulfurous fire dragging Sigrid to hell.   Panicking and searching for options, Marigold tried to scry on Sigrid, but her bowl of scry water burst into flame. Yarrow arrived and identified that the mace Halsa was killed with was a hellfire weapon which sends souls it kills directly to a powerful infernal patron in the Hells. Sigrid attempt to recover it, made a connection that dragged her to that same place in hell.   Yarrow said he could get safe passage to Hell, but without a precise location they would be out of luck. He directed the party to head to Samarra and find a way to pinpoint the location in hell perhaps using the resources of the Library of the House of Wisdom (Aspasia’s original workplace). He also declared a agency wide emergency, D4C had crossed a line and needs to be put down. He told the party to meet with Team G and Team B at his property in the city, the Swithem Mansion, and come up with a plan.   The party decided to take the flier to the city for additional speed and Marigold said a heartfell goodbye to Squark, though Nakai assured her he would be well taken care of and suitable cared for ready for when she needs him. DM Bryce David Cahill Nakai also had presents for the party knowing they may need new clothes after the fur clad north, he and the animals had made Fine Clothing sets for everyone (decide yourself how that looks) and the ducks had found some magical items in the lake that were given to the party. Including an amulet with three monkeys on it, a brooch with a stylized castle wall, and two elemental gems capable of summoning a water elemental and a earth elemental (one of each gem). DM Bryce David Cahill Oh also Marigold found some things on Xekai, some gold, a hot rock on a necklace, a ring of keys, three fingers, and a shard of metal that looks like it belongs to a sword.
