1.5 - The Cinderglass Tower Report

General Summary

Summary:

The Book Club uncovered efforts by the The Everroot Republic to arrest Sir Harold Gerhardt for his treasonous involvement in the kidnapping of Layla Cliffson and construction of Baelin's Wall. As they arrived at the The Cinderglass Tower, they found themselves in the middle of the conscription ceremony. Climbing the floors of the tower, they realized that Sir Gerhardt intended to bargain for the secrets to white Coldstone. Part of his plan involved exchanging both the adopted son of the Chief Architect as well as Francesca Fire. The Book Club managed to break Francesca from her cell, but not before realizing the The Forsaken Hand was also infiltrating the building and potentially seeking her life. They escorted her to the base of the tower, passing armed Everroot soldier and numerous unconscious ceremony guests.

Ultimately, they returned to the summit to protect Sir Gerhardt from the Everroot forces. Taxerius Mandalay betrayed his mentor, Sir Gerhardt, sabotaging his armor and attempting to activate a device which threatened to incinerate the tower and everyone within it. When the Book Club destroyed his device, he mounted a wyvern and attempted to kill them individually. The Book Club freed the High Priest of Everroot from an unknown magical spell, revealing him to be Doh Do Byrd, Wiz Kalifa's lifelong friend. Allying themselves with the Everroot guards and the Adjudicator, they managed to slay Taxerius. Two of the three guards and the Adjudicator also died during the conflict. The session ended with the Book Club trying to make sense of all that transpired.
