Gatter
Known for its big, red, glumpsy, watery fruits, this plant is native from Foira but has already been introduced into other planets as Cava for farming purposes.
Fruits and anatomy
It is a very exotic plant, as its fruits are very unique and distinguishable. Its fruits are closed cellulose-covered thick bags filled with a dense liquid whose flavor could be comparable to those of very sweet melons. The fruit itself is very fragile out of the water and it must be transported with extreme carefulness, as they could pop and all its content's flavor would be lost within half an hour.
The fruit must be transported in sealed containers filled with salty water, or preferably, pressurized containers at 20 - 30 atmospheres of pressure. Ideally the fruit would be transported on the same water where it was born and lived, to preserve its flavor and consistence.
The plant itself is a long algae that grows from the bottom of the sea floor and goes up towards the surface. This is achieved with its big leaves, which are all buoyant and make the plant always be upright. The main reasons why the plant's fruits manage to stay unpopped is because of pressure made against them by water and gravity combined, and because of the special characteristics of Foira: Having low tectonic activity and no major moons makes it possible to have no tides or currents that could destroy the fruit.
This is the main reason why it is so expensive and why almost all attempts of introducing it into any other planet have failed.
The plant itself has pairs of heart shaped leaves every 30cm, and they are attached to the main body. Fruits grow just above the leaves, on top of one of every pair of leaves, being the chose between these completely random.
