After the death of Oneranus II, Empress Dahlia is declares herself queen regent. Sarka rebellions break out, supplied by members of House Ruseu.

A year after Empress Dahlia began sitting ont he Jade Throne as Regent, she has not come forward with the Imperial child of Oneranus II. Political enemies and Sark instigators question the legitimacy of her claim to the Jade Throne.   The member of House Ruseu maintain a trade in gems with the Ursark, who operate several mines in the area. As tensions in the court increase the Patriarch of House Ruseu, one Boru Ruseu, plans a coup.   Ursark break into the Imperial Palace under cover of night and attempt an assassination of the Empress, but she is saved by her loyal Ebon Guards. A tribal chief, Chirera, is captured with the assassins and sentenced at dawn before the collected people of Onera city. She suffers upon an Oneran Cartwheel for 8 days before she dies. She reveals the Ruseu treason, and the Ruseu flee the Capital and take up with the Ursark and their forces.   Empress Dahlia leads Oneran forces against the northern Ursark rebellion. She is in the field for almost two years. In this time, she is finally sighted with a child in her chariot by Ruseu and Ursark forces. Several skirmishes occur where the Oneran forces best the Ursark rebels and Ruseu traitors with sorcery. The Ursark leader Pipistrella is struck by a lightning bolt on a clear day, and smote. Ursark rebels bow before the Ebon Chariot of the Empress Dahlia, bringing forth the Ruseu clan. The house is slaughtered to the last.   Dahlia returns to the throne, and it is an open secret her son has been born. She declares her plan to hold the throne until 198, when she will abdicate it to her son.
